The G350d AMG Line is a version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class with a 2,925cc engine. In Singapore it is a used buy now. Its yearly costs are dominated by two items: a large road tax bill and an insurance premium that varies a great deal by insurer. This guide shows both, plus the COE category and the costs that depend on you.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you compare. They are not a quote.
The car on our form
There is no G350d AMG Line on the new-car list now. So this guide gives no list price, power figure or body type for it.
Our quote form prices the G350d AMG Line with a 2,925cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote, and every figure below is for it.
COE
The 2,925cc engine is above 1,600cc, so the G350d AMG Line needs a Category B COE. That closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
A used car's COE is already paid. Its remaining years are what you are paying for in the price. The COE page has later results.
Road tax
LTA's formula sets road tax for the 2,925cc engine at S$2,297.12 a year, before any age surcharge.
Past 10 years, a surcharge is added:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
On a base this size, even the first step is a real sum. The road tax page explains how the figure is set.
Insurance: nine insurers, a wide range
The Mercedes-Benz G350d AMG Line price page prices this example:
- Car: G350d AMG Line, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
9 insurers price it. Seven on our panel do not price it online. The lowest premium is S$1,074.09 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$3,356.09. That is S$2,282.00 more, or 212% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
So the dearest lowest plan costs more than three times the lowest. Most of the prices sit in a band well below the top two. Still, the spread shows how much a single quote can mislead.
Each price on the page also carries the date it was read. Some were read more than a week before this guide. Rates can change, so the order may differ when you ask.
Excess
The lowest plan carries a S$600 excess, like most plans here. One carries S$500, one asks S$2,500, and one has no excess. Because the lowest plan uses the common S$600, its price is easy to compare with the others.
Different plans, different cover
Several insurers offer more than one plan here, from a basic one to a fuller one. The price steps between them can be a few hundred dollars. Check what each adds before you decide it is worth paying for.
What moves the price
The lowest price with one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$2,099.73, S$1,025.64 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,680.81, S$606.72 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,903.01, S$828.92 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,173.76, S$99.67 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,106.39, S$32.30 more
- A car 8 years old: S$1,022.35, S$51.74 less
Here, the NCD makes a very large difference. With none, the lowest price is 95% higher, almost double. Even 20% NCD adds S$606.72. The younger driver also pays far more. Car age matters much less. These are lowest prices only; other plans may move by different sums.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page shows:
- Toyota Camry: S$841.31
- Toyota Alphard: S$764.82

- Audi S5: S$1,238.58
- Audi S5 SPRTback: S$1,238.58
Their average lowest price is S$1,137.15. The G350d AMG Line is 6% below that. Two of the six, the Camry and the Alphard, are cheaper to insure. The Mercedes-Benz car insurance page links the other models.
Before you buy
- Your NCD: if yours is low, the insurance bill could be nearly double the example, as the list shows.
- The engine: confirm the 2,925cc engine on the log card. Other G-Class versions pay different road tax.
- Registration date: it sets the surcharge step and the COE years left.
Costs that depend on you
- Parking: season parking at home and work. Check your own block's rates before you buy.
- Fuel: your distance and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and times.
- Servicing and parts: follow the maker's schedule. Ask for the service record and quotes for anything due.
- Depreciation: what you pay set against the COE years left and the resale price.
