Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon in Singapore, list prices to insurance

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon in Singapore: six list prices as listed, Category B COE, road tax and dated car insurance for the E200.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The E-Class Saloon is Mercedes-Benz's mid-size executive car, and in Singapore it comes in six versions. They share most costs but differ widely on price. This guide sets out each cost item: the list price, the COE, road tax and car insurance.

All insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you compare. They are not a quote for you.

The range

The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 files the E-Class Saloon as a luxury car, made in Germany. Its versions:

  • Mild Hybrid E200 AMG Line: petrol-electric, 1,999cc, 201bhp
  • Mild Hybrid E200 Avantgarde: petrol-electric, 1,999cc, 201bhp
  • Mild Hybrid E200 Exclusive: petrol-electric, 1,999cc, 201bhp
  • Mild Hybrid E200 AMG Line Premium: petrol-electric, 1,999cc, 204bhp
  • Plug-in Hybrid E300e Avantgarde: petrol-electric, 1,999cc, 308bhp
  • Plug-in Hybrid E53 AMG 4MATIC+: petrol-electric, 2,999cc, 577bhp

Our quote form carries the same names, plus an E200 AMG Line Advanced. The insurance figures are for the E200 AMG Line, the version most of our insurers quote.

List prices

As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included as listed that day:

  • E200 Avantgarde: S$368,888
  • E200 Exclusive: S$383,888
  • E200 AMG Line Premium: S$390,000
  • E200 AMG Line: S$410,888
  • E300e Avantgarde: S$428,888
  • E53 AMG 4MATIC+: S$554,888

These shift with every COE round. When you compare offers, check what each includes, so the totals mean the same thing.

COE

The E200 AMG Line's 1,999cc engine is above 1,600cc. So it needs a Category B COE, which closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

COE results change every round. The COE page has the latest.

Road tax

LTA's formula sets road tax for the 1,999cc engine at S$1,210.92 a year, before any age surcharge. Five of the six versions share that engine size.

If you keep the car beyond 10 years, a surcharge is added:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The E53 has a 2,999cc engine and pays more. See the road tax page.

Insurance for one driver

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon price page prices this case:

  • Car: E200 AMG Line, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

11 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$886.12 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,382.90. That is S$496.78 more, or 56% on top. Prices include 9% GST.

The lowest plan carries a S$2,500 excess. The next one up, less than a dollar dearer, carries S$600. That kind of pair is why the excess matters as much as the premium.

Excess levels

Most plans set the excess at S$600. Others set S$500, S$750 or S$800. One plan has no excess. Several ask S$2,500 or S$3,000. The excess is what you pay first on any claim.

Five insurers on our panel have no online price for this model. Some of the prices shown are marked as estimates.

How the price moves

The lowest price with one detail changed:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,338.24, S$452.12 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,338.24, S$452.12 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,338.24, S$452.12 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$969.28, S$83.16 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$866.45, S$19.67 less
  • A car 8 years old: S$830.53, S$55.59 less

Without the NCD, the lowest price is 51% higher. The older driver pays somewhat more. A new E200 is slightly cheaper to insure than a 3-year-old one, and an 8-year-old one is cheaper again. These are lowest prices only; other plans may move by other amounts.

Similar cars

For the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$891.93. The E-Class Saloon is 1% below it, and three of the six cost less to insure. Against the BMW 5 Series, it costs a little more. The Mercedes-Benz car insurance page has other models.

Picking a version

The insurance figures here are for one E200. The plug-in E300e and the E53 are more powerful and dearer to buy, so their premiums may differ. The price page's quote form lets you price each one. The road tax is the same for every 1,999cc version.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking at home and at the office, plus parking in town.
  • Petrol or charging: the mild hybrids run on petrol. The plug-in E300e and E53 can also be charged, so a charger at home or work changes your costs.
  • ERP: your routes and timing.
  • Servicing: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what the warranty and any service package cover.
  • Depreciation: what you pay against what the car fetches later.
