Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet costs and car insurance in Singapore

An E-Class Cabriolet in Singapore, cost by cost: Category B COE, road tax and dated insurance prices for the E300 and different drivers.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The E-Class Cabriolet is one of the less common versions of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. If you are pricing one, you will want to know what it costs every year once it is yours. This guide covers the COE category, road tax and car insurance, then the costs that turn on how you use it.

The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Treat them as a guide to how prices compare. They are not a quote.

Versions on the quote form

There is no E-Class Cabriolet on the new-car list now. So this guide has no list price, power figure or body type from it.

Our quote form has two versions:

  • E300 AMG Line Night Edition Premium Plus: 1,991cc
  • E53 AMG 4MATIC+ Night Edition Premium Plus: 2,999cc

The figures below are for the E300, the version most of our insurers quote. The E53 has a much larger engine, so it pays more road tax and may be priced differently.

COE

The E300's 1,991cc engine is above 1,600cc. That puts it in Category B, which closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

If you buy one now, it will be used, with its COE already paid. The remaining COE years shape the price you pay. The COE page has later results.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives the 1,991cc engine S$1,201.54 a year, before any age surcharge.

Once the car is past 10 years, the surcharge applies:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

For the E53's 2,999cc engine, see the road tax page.

What insurance costs

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet price page uses one example:

  • Car: E300 Cabriolet, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

10 insurers price the car. The lowest premium is S$959.24 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,554.61. That is S$595.37 more, or 62% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Six insurers on our panel do not price this model online. That leaves a shorter list than for many cars, so each quote counts. Some prices are marked as estimates; confirm those with the insurer.

Excesses

The lowest plan has a S$600 excess, the level most plans here use. Others set S$500 or S$800. One plan has no excess, and one sets S$2,500. The excess is what you pay before the insurer pays a claim, so it belongs in any comparison.

Comparing plan by plan

The page lists several plans from some insurers, from a basic plan to a fuller one. A higher plan usually costs more and may include more. When two prices look close, check what each plan covers. Look at windscreen cover, a replacement car during repairs, and whether the plan protects your NCD.

What changes the lowest price

The price page reprices with one detail changed:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,445.41, S$486.17 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,445.41, S$486.17 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,445.41, S$486.17 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,114.69, S$155.45 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$1,032.26, S$73.02 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$915.36, S$43.88 less

Your NCD weighs most. With none, the lowest price is 51% higher. The older driver also pays a fair bit more, and the newer car costs more than the 3-year-old one. These are lowest prices only; other plans may move by different sums.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page shows six cars with engines of a similar size:

Their average lowest price is S$891.93. The E-Class Cabriolet is 8% above it. Three of the six cost less to insure. The Mercedes-Benz car insurance page links the rest of the range.

Questions before you buy

  • Which version is it? The E300 and the E53 pay very different road tax.
  • When was it first registered? That sets the surcharge and the COE years left.
  • What will your own premium be? Your age and NCD move the price, as the list above shows.
  • Is the price recent? Each insurance price on the page shows the date it was read. Older readings may have changed since.

Costs only you can estimate

  • Parking: season parking at home and work. Check your own block's rates before you buy.
  • Petrol: your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: the gantries on your routes and when you pass them.
  • Servicing and upkeep: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what has been done on the car and what is due.
  • Depreciation: the price you pay against what the car fetches later.

Yearly figures

For the E-Class Cabriolet E300:

  • Road tax: S$1,201.54 a year, before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, example driver: from S$959.24 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,445.41

For reference, a Category B COE closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
