The Mazda Premacy is no longer on the new-car list, so in Singapore it is a used-car buy. So the useful numbers are the ones you pay every year: road tax and car insurance. This guide lays them out, along with the COE category and the costs that depend on you.
The insurance prices below are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are a guide to how prices compare, not the premium you will be offered.
The version priced
There is no Premacy on the new-car list on sale now. So this guide gives no list price, power figure or body type from it.
Our quote form prices the Mazda Premacy 2.0, with a 1,969cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote, and every insurance figure here is for it.
COE category
The Premacy 2.0's 1,969cc engine is above 1,600cc, so it needs a Category B COE. That COE closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
For a used Premacy, the COE is already paid. The years left on it are part of what you pay the seller. The COE page has the latest bidding results.
Road tax
For a 1,969cc engine, LTA's formula sets road tax at S$1,175.74 a year, before any age surcharge.
Many Premacys on sale now are older cars, so the surcharge is worth checking:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The surcharge is a share of the base road tax, so it rises step by step as the car ages. The road tax page explains the formula.
The insurance spread
The Mazda Premacy price page uses one example:
- Car: Premacy 2.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount, no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
For that example, 13 insurers price the car. The lowest premium is S$721.59. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,398.40. That gap is S$676.81, or 94% on top of the lowest. Prices include 9% GST.
In plain terms, one insurer can charge close to double what another does for the same car and driver. A few prices are marked as estimates, so confirm them at the source.
Read the excess too
Each plan has an excess, the share of a claim you pay. Most here carry S$600. Others are set at S$500, S$750 or S$800. A few plans ask S$2,500 or S$3,000. When two premiums are close, the excess can be what separates them.
The plan names on the price page also differ. Some plans are basic comprehensive cover. Others add extras, such as cover for the windscreen or a car while yours is repaired. A higher premium may buy more cover, so check what each plan includes before you weigh the price.
Three insurers on our panel have no online price for this model yet.
When one thing changes
These are the lowest prices with a single detail changed:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,086.58, S$364.99 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,086.58, S$364.99 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,086.58, S$364.99 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$721.59, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$742.90, S$21.31 more
- A car 8 years old: S$660.69, S$60.90 less
The NCD makes the biggest difference. Without it, the lowest price is 51% higher. The older driver pays the same, and the 8-year-old car costs less. These are lowest prices only; other plans can shift by different sums.
Set against six similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists:
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Premacy comes in 17% below that, and none of the six is cheaper to insure for this driver. More Mazdas are on the Mazda car insurance page.
Buying a used Premacy
A used car brings checks of its own. Your NCD belongs to you, not the car, so it moves with you to the Premacy. Check the date the car was first registered. It sets the road tax surcharge, and it tells you how many COE years remain. The insurance figures above already show that car age changes the premium, so price the actual car you plan to buy.
What you will need to estimate
A few costs have no single figure:
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus wherever you park during the day.
- Petrol: your distance times the pump price.
- ERP: your routes and the hours you use them.
- Upkeep: regular servicing, tyres, brakes and batteries. An older car may need more of this, so ask about its history.
- Depreciation: what you pay now against the COE years remaining.
Yearly costs at a glance
