Mazda 6 Estate yearly costs in Singapore, road tax to insurance

Mazda 6 Estate costs in Singapore: road tax and Category B COE for the 2.0 MZR-CD, and insurance below all six similar cars on our price page.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Mazda 6 Estate is a used-market car in Singapore, with no entry on the new-car list. If you are weighing one up, the good news on our figures is its insurance: it costs less than all six similar cars we compare it with. This page sets out that and the other costs we can show: road tax and the COE category.

Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own quote will depend on your details, so use these figures to set a budget and to compare, not as a promise of price.

Versions on our form

Our quote form lists two:

  • Mazda 6 Estate 2.0 MZR-CD: 1,998cc
  • Mazda 6 Estate 2.5i MZR: 2,488cc

The figures below are for the 2.0 MZR-CD, the version most insurers quote. There is no list price, as the model has no new-car list entry. The 2.5i has a larger engine and pays more road tax.

COE

The price page's COE section says the Mazda 6 Estate 2.0 MZR-CD, with a 1,998cc engine, is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE.

Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. COE prices change every round; the COE page shows the latest. On a used car, the COE life left is a big part of what you are paying for. Check the expiry date early.

Road tax

For a 1,998cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year, before any age surcharge. Look up the 2.5i on the road tax page.

The surcharge on older cars:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The registration date on the car's papers tells you which step, if any, applies.

Insurance for the example driver

The Mazda 6 Estate price page prices this case:

  • Car: Mazda 6 Estate 2.0 MZR-CD, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

12 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$721.59. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,305.75. That is S$584.16 more, or 81% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Four insurers that price cars online have no online price for the Mazda 6 Estate yet. That still leaves 12 to compare, which is enough to see how far apart the plans are.

Excess

The excess is what you pay on each claim. The range on this page is tight. Ten of the 18 plans carry S$600. Two ask S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. One has no excess. No plan goes above S$800.

That makes the premiums fairly easy to compare. Even so, look at what each plan covers, since cover can differ when the excess is the same.

How the price changes

The price page reprices the car with one change:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,054.17, S$332.58 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,054.17, S$332.58 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,054.17, S$332.58 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$721.59, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$742.90, S$21.31 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$660.69, S$60.90 less

No NCD costs the most: the lowest price is 46% higher. The younger driver comes to the same figure. The 65-year-old pays the same as the base driver.

An 8-year-old car is S$60.90 cheaper to insure than the 3-year-old one on the page. A Mazda 6 Estate on sale now may be older still, so treat the 8-year-old row as the nearer guide.

These are lowest prices only. A different insurer comes out lowest once the NCD falls below 50%. So if your record differs from the example, compare again with your own details.

Against similar cars

The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Mazda 6 Estate costs 17% less, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. The Harrier comes closest. Other Mazda models are on the Mazda car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across the market.

Costs that depend on you

These vary by owner, so we give no figures:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus work and weekend parking.
  • Fuel: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and times.
  • Servicing and repairs: on a used car, ask for the service record and what is due next.
  • Depreciation: depends on the price you pay and the COE years left.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
