The Mazda 6 MPS has its own entry on our quote form, apart from the regular Mazda 6. With no new-car list entry, it is a used buy in Singapore today. This page sets out the yearly costs we can show: road tax, car insurance and the COE category.
Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how prices compare and what moves them. Your own quote will differ.
The version on our form
Our quote form lists one version:
- Mazda 6 MPS: 2,261cc
There is no list price, as the model is not on the new-car list. Every figure below is for this car. Check that the engine size on the car's papers matches.
COE
The price page's COE section says the Mazda 6 MPS, at 2,261cc, is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE.
Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. The COE page shows later rounds. On a used car, the COE expiry date tells you how long you can keep it on the road before you must renew or deregister.
Road tax
For a 2,261cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,518.26 a year, before any age surcharge. That is the largest yearly figure we can show for this car, larger than the lowest insurance premium.
The surcharge on older cars:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
If the car you are looking at is past 10 years, add the right step. The road tax page shows how engine size sets the base sum. Unlike insurance, road tax does not change with your record or age, so it is the one bill you can fix in advance.
Insurance for the example driver
The Mazda 6 MPS price page prices this case:
- Car: Mazda 6 MPS, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
12 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$742.90. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,504.15. That is S$761.25 more, or 102% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
So the dearest is about double the lowest. Four insurers that price cars online have no online price for the MPS yet. With 12 still in the field, the spread above is the main reason to compare rather than renew without checking.
Excess
The excess is what you pay on each claim. Ten of the 18 plans carry S$600. Two ask S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. One has no excess. None goes above S$800.
With excesses this close, the premium does most of the work in a comparison. Still, read what each plan covers before you settle on one.
How the price changes
The price page reprices the car with one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,068.61, S$325.71 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,068.61, S$325.71 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,068.61, S$325.71 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$742.90, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$764.82, S$21.92 more
- Car 8 years old: S$666.79, S$76.11 less
No NCD costs the most: the lowest price is 44% higher. The younger driver lands on the same figure. The 65-year-old pays the same as the 40-year-old.
The car's age moves the price a little. An 8-year-old MPS is S$76.11 cheaper to insure than the 3-year-old car on the page. Since you would be buying used, that row is a useful guide.
These are lowest prices only. Once the NCD drops, a different insurer is lowest. If your discount is under 50%, compare again with your real details rather than relying on the base case.
For a driver with a full NCD, though, the MPS sits low on insurance for its engine size. The comparison below shows that.
Against similar cars
The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Camry: S$841.31
- Toyota Alphard: S$764.82
- Toyota Vellfire: S$764.82
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
They average S$805.99. The MPS costs 8% less, and none of the six is cheaper to insure; the Harrier matches it. Other Mazda models are on the Mazda car insurance page.
Costs that depend on you
These vary by owner, so we give no figures:
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus work and town.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and times.
- Servicing and repairs: on a used car, ask for the service record and what is due next.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay and the COE life left.
