The Mazda 323 Astina has its own entry on our quote form, separate from the plain 323. If you own one or are thinking of buying one used, this page sets out the yearly costs we can show: road tax and car insurance. It also gives the COE section from our price page.
There is no 323 Astina on the new-car list. Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you compare and show what moves the price; they are not a quote.
The version on our form
Our quote form lists one version:
- 323 Astina 1.6: 1,598cc
There is no list price. Every figure below is for the 1.6. Check that the car you are offered has the same engine size on its papers.
COE
For the 323 Astina 1.6, with a 1,598cc engine, the category depends on power. The price page's COE section says it needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.
In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. The COE page has the latest results.
The COE also sets how long you can keep the car on the road. When it expires, you either renew it or deregister the car. So before you buy, check the expiry date and decide whether you would renew.
Road tax
For a 1,598cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$741.72 a year, before any age surcharge.
Once a car is past 10 years, the surcharge applies:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The registration date on the car's papers tells you which step, if any, applies. The road tax page shows how the base sum is set.
Insurance for the example driver
The Mazda 323 Astina price page prices this case:
- Car: 323 Astina 1.6, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
11 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$622.34. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,304.13. That is S$681.79 more, or 110% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Five insurers that price cars online have no online price for the 323 Astina yet. Note too that the page prices a car registered 3 years ago. A 323 Astina on sale today is likely to be older, so the 8-year-old row below is the closer guide.
Excess
The excess is what you pay yourself on each claim. Here the range is tight. Eight of the 16 plans carry S$600. Three ask S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. No plan has a zero excess, and none goes above S$800. That makes the premiums easy to compare like for like.
How the price changes
The price page reprices the car with one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,012.89, S$390.55 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,012.89, S$390.55 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,012.89, S$390.55 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$622.34, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$642.42, S$20.08 more
- Car 8 years old: S$569.36, S$52.98 less
No NCD costs the most: the lowest price is 63% higher. The younger driver comes to the same figure. The 65-year-old pays the same as the base driver. An older car is cheaper to insure.
These are lowest prices only. A different insurer is lowest once the NCD falls. So if your discount is below 50%, start from S$1,012.89 rather than S$622.34 when you budget, and compare again with your own details.
If you already hold a 50% NCD from another car, it carries across. On this car, that is worth S$390.55 at the lowest price.
Against similar cars
The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz C-Class: S$749.93
- Hyundai Kona: S$721.59
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
They average S$695.36. The 323 Astina costs 11% less. Only the Toyota Sienta is cheaper to insure. Other Mazda models are on the Mazda car insurance page.
Costs that depend on you
These vary by owner, so we give no figures:
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus work and errands.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and times.
- Servicing and repairs: an older car may need more parts over time. Ask for the service record and what is due.
- Depreciation: on an older car, this depends mostly on the COE life left.
