Mazda 6 running costs in Singapore across its many versions

Mazda 6 costs in Singapore: 11 versions on our form, road tax and Category B COE for the 1.8, and insurance prices that rise 71% without an NCD.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Mazda 6 appears on our quote form in more forms than most cars: Estate and HTBK names sit alongside the plain version, with engines from 1,798cc up to a V6. On the used market today, which one you buy shapes your yearly costs. This page sets out the figures we can show for the 1.8, the version most insurers quote.

There is no Mazda 6 on the new-car list now. Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you compare and show what moves the price; they are not a quote.

Versions on our form

Our quote form lists eleven:

  • 1.8 and 1.8 Estate: 1,798cc
  • 2.0, 2.0 Estate and 2.0 HTBK: 1,999cc
  • 2.2 MZR-CD: 2,184cc
  • 2.3: 2,261cc
  • 2.5, 2.5 Estate and 2.5 HTBK: 2,488cc
  • V6: 2,967cc

The figures below are for the Mazda 6 1.8. There is no list price, as the model is not on the new-car list. Check the engine size on the car's papers, since road tax depends on it.

COE

The price page's COE section says the Mazda 6 1.8, at 1,798cc, is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE.

Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. The COE page has later results. On a used car, check how long its COE has left.

Road tax

For the 1.8's 1,798cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$975.16 a year, before any age surcharge. Every other version on the form has a larger engine and pays more. The road tax page works each one out.

The age surcharge:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Insurance for the example driver

The Mazda 6 price page prices this case:

  • Car: Mazda 6 1.8, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

13 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$721.59. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,294.41, which is S$572.82 more, or 79% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Three insurers that price cars online have no online price for the Mazda 6 yet.

Excess

The excess is what you pay yourself on each claim. Ten of the 21 plans carry S$600. Two ask S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Two ask S$2,500 and one S$3,000. One has no excess. Compare the excess beside every premium. A plan with a low premium and a high excess shifts more of each claim onto you, so check both before you choose.

How the price changes

The price page reprices the car with one change:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,236.47, S$514.88 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,215.31, S$493.72 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,236.47, S$514.88 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$721.59, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$742.90, S$21.31 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$660.69, S$60.90 less

No NCD costs the most: the lowest price is 71% higher. A 20% NCD helps only a little, at S$1,215.31. The younger driver pays the same as the no-NCD case. The 65-year-old pays the same as the base driver.

The car's age matters far less. An 8-year-old Mazda 6 is S$60.90 cheaper to insure than the 3-year-old car on the page. Since any Mazda 6 you buy now is used, that row is a useful guide. These are lowest prices only.

For this car, then, the NCD is the figure to check first. The gap between 50% and 20% is S$493.72 at the lowest price. If you hold a full discount from another car, have proof of it ready when you ask for quotes.

Against similar cars

The price page compares six similar cars at the same driver and car age:

They average S$741.89. The Mazda 6 costs 3% less. Two of the six, the Corolla Altis and the Avante, are cheaper to insure. The Kona matches it. Other Mazda models are on the Mazda car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

These vary by owner, so we give no figures:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus work and errands.
  • Fuel: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and times.
  • Servicing and repairs: on a used car, ask for the service history and what is due next.
  • Depreciation: depends on the price paid and the COE years left.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
