Mazda CX-7 running costs in Singapore for tax and insurance

Mazda CX-7 costs in Singapore: Category B COE, road tax for a 2,261cc engine and insurance from 15 insurers, with how NCD and age change it.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Mazda CX-7 is a used-market car in Singapore now, with no new-car list entry. If you are thinking of buying one, two yearly bills are easy to pin down: road tax and car insurance. This page sets out both, along with the COE category from our price page.

Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how the market looks and what moves the price, not your own quote.

Versions on our form

Our quote form lists two:

  • Mazda CX-7: 2,261cc
  • Mazda CX-7 2.5: 2,488cc

The figures below are for the 2,261cc CX-7, the version most insurers quote. There is no list price, as the model is not on the new-car list. The 2.5 has a larger engine and pays more road tax.

COE

The price page's COE section says the CX-7, with a 2,261cc engine, is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE.

Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. COE results change every round; the COE page has the latest. On a used car, the COE expiry date is the first thing to check. It sets how long you can keep the car before you renew or deregister.

Road tax

For a 2,261cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,518.26 a year, before any age surcharge. For the 2.5, see the road tax page.

The surcharge for older cars:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The registration date on the car's papers tells you which step applies.

Insurance for the example driver

The Mazda CX-7 price page prices this case:

  • Car: Mazda CX-7 (2,261cc), registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

15 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$928.76. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,726.17. That is S$797.41 more, or 86% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Only one insurer that prices cars online has no online price for the CX-7 yet. So almost the whole market is in the comparison.

Excess

The excess is what you pay on each claim. Of the 23 plans on this page, ten carry S$600. Three ask S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Three ask S$2,500, one asks S$3,000 and one has no excess.

With a spread that wide, compare the excess as closely as the premium. A plan that saves you a little each year can cost you much more in a year you claim.

How the price changes

The price page reprices the car with one change:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,237.85, S$309.09 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,237.85, S$309.09 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,237.85, S$309.09 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,014.93, S$86.17 more
  • New car, registered this year: S$931.63, S$2.87 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$884.02, S$44.74 less

No NCD costs the most: the lowest price is 33% higher. The younger driver comes to the same figure. The 65-year-old pays S$86.17 more than the base driver.

Car age makes only a small difference. A new car costs S$2.87 more and an 8-year-old one S$44.74 less. Since any CX-7 you buy now is used, the older-car row is the closer guide.

Different insurers are lowest across these rows. So the plan at the top of the page for the example driver may not be the one at the top for you. These are lowest prices only; compare with your own NCD and age.

If an older family member will be the main driver, ask for quotes in their name. The driver-age row shows the price moves for that too.

Against similar cars

The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:

They average S$805.99. The CX-7 costs 15% more, and all six are cheaper to insure for this driver. The E-Class and 5 Series come closest. Other Mazda models are on the Mazda car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

These vary by owner, so we give no figures:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus work and weekend parking.
  • Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and times.
  • Servicing and repairs: on a used car, ask for the service record and what is due next.
  • Depreciation: depends on the price you pay and the COE years left.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
