Owning a Mazda CX-30 in Singapore, with road tax and insurance prices

Mazda CX-30 costs in Singapore: its Category B COE, road tax of S$1,209.76 a year and dated car insurance prices for several drivers.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

This guide is for anyone looking at a Mazda CX-30, most likely as a used car. It covers what we can put a figure to: the COE category, road tax and car insurance. It also lists the costs only you can work out, such as parking and petrol.

The new-car list we read has no CX-30 on sale, so there is no list price here. The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own price will follow your details, so read them as a guide to scale, not a quote.

The version priced

Our quote form has one CX-30 entry, with a 1,998cc engine. That is the version our insurers quote and the one every figure below refers to. If you are looking at a particular car, check its engine size on the registration papers, as road tax and the COE category both depend on it.

COE category for the CX-30

The price page is clear on this one. With a 1,998cc engine, above 1,600cc, the CX-30 needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

For a used car, the COE is already paid and runs for a set term from registration. The time left on it is worth checking, since it sets how long the car can stay on the road before the COE must be renewed. The COE page has the latest bidding results.

What road tax costs

Road tax for a petrol car follows engine size. For 1,998cc, LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year. That is before any surcharge for age.

The surcharge starts after 10 years and rises each year:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

If you are buying a car near the 10-year mark, factor in the higher rate for the years ahead. The road tax page shows the sums for other engine sizes.

Insurance for the standard driver

The Mazda CX-30 price page prices this case:

  • Car: CX-30, 1,998cc, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

For that case, 13 insurers give a price. The lowest is S$721.59 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,464.30. That is S$742.71 more, or 103% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

In plain terms, the dearest insurer's lowest plan is more than double the lowest price. Three insurers on our panel give no online price for the CX-30 at all, so the field is smaller than for some other models.

What sits behind each price

  • Excess: the part of a claim you pay first. Most plans on the page carry S$600. The range runs from S$0 to S$3,000.
  • Workshop: the lowest-priced plan on the page allows any workshop or an authorised one. Many others are authorised-workshop plans.
  • Plan scope: one plan on the page is a collision-only cover. Check what each plan includes before you set the prices side by side.

How the price moves with the driver and the car

The price page gives the lowest price when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,068.61, S$347.02 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,068.61, S$347.02 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,068.61, S$347.02 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$721.59, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$742.90, S$21.31 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$660.69, S$60.90 less

The NCD is the lever that matters. Without it, the lowest price is 48% higher. A driver of 27 with three years' driving lands at the same figure. For a used buyer, the good news is that an older CX-30 costs less to insure at the lowest price. These are lowest prices only, and dearer plans may move by other amounts.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page compares six cars:

Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The CX-30 comes in 17% below it, and none of the six costs less to insure. More Mazda models are on the Mazda car insurance page.

Checks before you buy a used one

  • COE end date: shown in the car's records. It tells you how long the car can stay on the road.
  • Engine size: confirm it matches the 1,998cc used here, since road tax and insurance turn on it.
  • Road tax expiry: see when it falls due, and whether the age surcharge applies.
  • Service records: ask for them, and check what work is due next.
  • Your own quote: run your own details, since your NCD and age can change the price a lot.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking where you live, plus work and mall parking. Check the rate at your block.
  • Petrol: rises with your distance and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and wear: tyres, brakes and a battery come up over the years, more often on an older car.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay and how much COE life is left.

Summary of yearly costs we can show

For the CX-30 with a 1,998cc engine, dated as shown:

  • Road tax: S$1,209.76 a year before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$721.59 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,068.61
  • Insurance, car 8 years old: from S$660.69

For reference, a Category B COE closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
