Mazda Axela Sport 15C costs in Singapore, road tax and insurance

Mazda Axela Sport 15C costs in Singapore: road tax for a 1,496cc engine, its COE rules and insurance that rises 79% without an NCD.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Mazda Axela Sport 15C is a car you would buy used in Singapore, as the new-car list has no entry for it. Its road tax is modest, and for a driver with a full no-claim discount, so is its insurance. Without that discount, the picture changes. This page sets out the figures.

All insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how costs compare and what moves them. Your quote will depend on your details.

The version on our form

Our quote form lists one version:

  • Axela Sport 15C: 1,496cc

There is no list price. Every figure below is for the 15C. Check that the car you are looking at has the same engine size on its papers.

COE

For the Axela Sport 15C, with a 1,496cc engine, the category depends on power. The price page's COE section says it needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.

In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. These change every round; the COE page has the latest. On a used car, check how long the current COE has left.

Road tax

For a 1,496cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$681.90 a year, before any age surcharge.

The surcharge for older cars:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The registration date on the car's papers tells you which step, if any, applies. The road tax page shows the base sum for other engines.

Insurance for the example driver

The Mazda Axela Sport price page prices this case:

  • Car: Axela Sport 15C, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

12 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$586.41. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,242.97. That is S$656.56 more, or 112% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

So the dearest is more than double the lowest. Four insurers that price cars online have no online price for the Axela Sport yet. The twelve that do still cover a wide range, so it pays to look past the first few prices on the page.

Excess

The excess is what you pay on each claim. Ten of the 18 plans carry S$600. Two ask S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. One has no excess, and none goes above S$800.

The narrow band makes plans easier to compare. Even so, read what each one covers, as cover can differ when excesses match.

The NCD makes the difference

The price page reprices the car with one change:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,050.84, S$464.43 more
  • 20% NCD: S$987.63, S$401.22 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,050.84, S$464.43 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$586.41, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$604.07, S$17.66 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$545.00, S$41.41 less

With no NCD, the lowest price is 79% higher. Even 20% NCD leaves it S$401.22 above the base case. The younger driver lands on the same figure as no NCD.

The 65-year-old pays the same as the base driver. Car age has a small effect: an 8-year-old car saves S$41.41, and a new one adds S$17.66. These are lowest prices only. The plans behind them differ from row to row, and dearer plans may move by other amounts.

So on this car, a driver with a full NCD pays far less than one starting out. If you are newer to driving, budget nearer S$1,050.84 than S$586.41. And if you hold a full discount from another car, have proof of it ready, as it carries across.

Against similar cars

The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:

They average S$701.70. The Axela Sport costs 16% less, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. The Sienta comes closest. Other Mazda models are on the Mazda car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across the market.

Costs that depend on you

These vary by owner, so we give no figures:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus work and errands.
  • Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and times.
  • Servicing and repairs: on a used car, ask for the service record and what is due next.
  • Depreciation: depends on the price you pay and the COE years left.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
