The Mazda 6 Sedan is one of the easier used cars to insure in Singapore on our figures. Fifteen insurers price it online, and it costs less than all six similar cars on its price page. This page sets out that and the other costs we can show: road tax and the COE category.
There is no Mazda 6 Sedan on the new-car list now. Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show the market, not your own quote.
Versions on our form
Our quote form lists five:
- 2.0 Executive: 1,998cc
- 2.0 Luxury: 1,998cc
- 2.0 Standard: 1,998cc
- 2.5 Luxury: 2,488cc
- 2.5 Premium: 2,488cc
The figures below are for the 2.0 Executive, the version most insurers quote. The three 2.0 versions share an engine size, so their road tax is the same. The two 2.5 versions pay more. There is no list price, as the model is not on the new-car list.
COE
The price page's COE section says the Mazda 6 Sedan 2.0 Executive, with a 1,998cc engine, is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE.
Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. COE results change each round; the COE page has the latest. On a used car, check the COE expiry date before you agree a price.
Road tax
For a 1,998cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year, before any age surcharge. For the 2.5 versions, see the road tax page.
The surcharge on older cars:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Insurance for the example driver
The Mazda 6 Sedan price page prices this case:
- Car: Mazda 6 Sedan 2.0 Executive, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
15 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$721.59. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,305.75. That is S$584.16 more, or 81% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Only one insurer that prices cars online has no online price for this car yet. So you can see almost the whole market in one place.
Excess
The excess is what you pay on each claim. There are 23 plans on this page. Ten carry S$600. Three ask S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Three ask S$2,500, one asks S$3,000 and one has no excess.
With so many plans, it is easy to compare premiums and forget the excess. A plan with a S$2,500 or S$3,000 excess may look good until you need to claim. Line up both figures for each plan you shortlist.
How the price moves
The price page reprices the car with one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,054.17, S$332.58 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,054.17, S$332.58 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,054.17, S$332.58 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$721.59, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$742.90, S$21.31 more
- Car 8 years old: S$660.69, S$60.90 less
No NCD costs the most: the lowest price is 46% higher. The younger driver comes to the same figure. The 65-year-old pays the same as the base driver.
On car age, an 8-year-old car is S$60.90 cheaper to insure than the 3-year-old car on the page. A new one costs S$21.31 more. Since you would be buying used, the older-car row is the more useful.
These are lowest prices only. A different insurer is lowest once the NCD falls below 50%. If your own discount is lower, compare with your real figure. The order on the page will not hold for you.
Against similar cars
The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
They average S$867.25. The Mazda 6 Sedan costs 17% less, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. The Harrier comes closest. Other Mazda models are on the Mazda car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across the market.
Costs that depend on you
These vary by owner, so we give no figures:
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus work and errands.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and times.
- Servicing and repairs: on a used car, ask for the service record and what is due next.
- Depreciation: depends on the price you pay and the COE years left.
