The Lexus NX is a premium SUV, sold new today only as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid. Older NX 300 models with a 2.0-litre engine are on the used market. This piece goes through what an NX costs, item by item, where the facts give a figure.
Insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are a guide to how prices compare, not a quote.
The NX range
The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has three versions. All are SUVs made in Japan, all petrol-electric with a 2,487cc engine:
- NX 350h Hybrid 2.5 Executive: 240bhp
- NX 350h Hybrid 2.5 Luxury: 240bhp
- NX 450h+ Plug-in Hybrid 2.5 F Sport: 304bhp
The quote form lists three versions:
- NX 300 2.0: 1,998cc
- NX 300h: 2,494cc
- NX 350: 2,487cc
The insurance figures below are for the NX 300 2.0 (1,998cc), the version most insurers quote. That is an older version, not one of the hybrids on sale now.
Price on the list
As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included that day:
- NX 350h Hybrid 2.5 Executive: S$365,800
- NX 350h Hybrid 2.5 Luxury: S$390,800
- NX 450h+ Plug-in Hybrid 2.5 F Sport: S$456,800
Each COE round can move these. Before you compare offers, see what each one covers.
Certificate of Entitlement
With a 1,998cc engine, above 1,600cc, the NX 300 2.0 needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100. The COE page shows later rounds.
Road tax
For the NX 300 2.0's 1,998cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year, before any age surcharge.
The hybrids on sale have a 2,487cc engine, so their road tax is higher. The road tax page works out the sum for that size or any other.
On any NX over 10 years old, a surcharge applies:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Insuring the standard case
The Lexus NX price page prices this driver and car:
- Car: NX 300 2.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
14 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$972.39 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,935. That is S$962.61 more, or 99% on top. Prices include 9% GST.
Two insurers on the panel have no online price for the NX yet.
A high excess at the low end
Here the excess needs a close look. The lowest premium on the page comes with a S$2,500 excess. Most other plans carry S$600, with some at S$500, S$750 or S$800. A few reach S$2,500 or S$3,000, and one plan has none. If you would rather pay less on a claim, the plan with the lowest premium may not suit you.
The price for other drivers and car ages
The price page shows the lowest premium when one detail changes:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,495.21, which is S$522.82 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,471.96, which is S$499.57 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,478.33, which is S$505.94 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,055.96, which is S$83.57 more
- New car, registered this year: S$955.71, which is S$16.68 less
- Car 8 years old: S$900.79, which is S$71.60 less
A few points stand out. Losing the NCD has the largest effect: 54% more at the lowest price. An older driver pays more than the 40-year-old here, which is not the case on every car. And a new NX comes out a little lower than a 3-year-old one, as does an 8-year-old one. These are lowest prices only; other plans may move by different amounts.
Next to similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:
- BMW 3 Series: S$1,009.11
- Mercedes-Benz GLC: S$925.60
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
The six average S$865.57. The NX costs 12% more than that, and five of the six are cheaper to insure. Only the BMW 3 Series is higher. Other Lexus models are on the Lexus car insurance page.
Costs set by how you use it
- Parking: season parking at your condo or HDB block, plus parking at work and in town.
- Petrol or charging: depends on your mileage, pump prices and, for the plug-in hybrid, where you can charge.
- ERP: set by your routes and the hours you drive.
- Servicing: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what the warranty and any service package include.
- Depreciation: the gap between what you pay and what the car fetches when you sell.
