Lexus LBX in Singapore, list price, road tax and insurance costs

Lexus LBX costs in Singapore: hybrid list prices as listed on 2026-10-10, road tax for a 1,490cc engine, COE rules and insurance by driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Lexus LBX is an SUV with a 1,490cc hybrid engine, and it is on sale new in Singapore. That makes it one of the few cars in this group with a current list price. This page sets out what it costs, item by item: the list price, COE, road tax and car insurance.

The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own price depends on your details, so treat them as a guide.

The versions

The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has two LBX versions on sale, both SUVs made in Japan:

  • LBX Hybrid 1.5 Cool: petrol-electric, 1,490cc, 129bhp
  • LBX Hybrid 1.5 Elegant: petrol-electric, 1,490cc, 129bhp

Our quote form lists three versions, all at 1,490cc: the 1.5 Cool, the 1.5 Elegant and the 1.5 Urbanite. The insurance figures below are for the 1.5 Cool, the version most insurers quote.

List price

As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included in the list price that day:

  • LBX Hybrid 1.5 Elegant: S$270,800
  • LBX Hybrid 1.5 Cool: S$275,800

List prices move with every COE round, so the price a dealer quotes you may differ. When you compare offers, check what each one includes before you compare totals.

COE

For the LBX 1.5 Cool, with a 1,490cc engine, the category depends on power. The price page's COE section says it needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.

In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. These change every round; the COE page has the latest results.

Road tax

For a 1,490cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$678.38 a year, before any age surcharge. All three versions share that engine size.

The age surcharge applies once the car is past 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page covers other engines if you are comparing.

Insurance for the example driver

The Lexus LBX price page prices this case:

  • Car: LBX 1.5 Cool, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

10 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$930.08. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,979.94. That is S$1,049.86 more, or 113% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Six insurers that price cars online have no online price for the LBX yet. That is a fair share of the market for a car on sale now, so you have fewer quotes to compare than for an older, more common model.

Excess

The excess is what you pay yourself on each claim. Of the 14 plans on this page, eight carry S$600. Two ask S$500 and two S$750. One asks S$2,500, and one has no excess. Check the excess beside each premium.

How the price moves

The price page reprices the car with one change:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,748.27, S$818.19 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,408.81, S$478.73 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,408.47, S$478.39 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,006.05, S$75.97 more
  • New car, registered this year: S$921.97, S$8.11 less
  • Car 8 years old: S$844.70, S$85.38 less

No NCD costs the most: the lowest price is 88% higher. That is a large jump, close to double. Even 20% NCD leaves it S$478.73 above the base case. The younger driver pays about the same as the 20% NCD case.

For a new LBX, the "new car" row matters most. It shows S$921.97, slightly below the 3-year-old car. These are lowest prices only, and other plans may react differently.

If you are buying new and have built up an NCD on another car, that discount carries across. On the LBX, it makes a large difference. Have proof of it ready when you ask for quotes.

Against similar cars

The price page compares six similar cars, at the same driver and car age:

They average S$735.99. The LBX costs 26% more, and all six are cheaper to insure. The Mazda 3 comes closest, a few dollars below. Other Lexus models are on the Lexus car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

These vary between owners, so we give no figures:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus office and mall parking.
  • Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price. The LBX pairs petrol with an electric motor.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and times.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what the warranty and any service package cover.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay and what the car fetches later.

Summary of yearly costs we can show

  • Insurance, new car: from S$921.97
