Lexus GS 250 costs in Singapore and how NCD changes the premium

Lexus GS costs in Singapore: road tax and Category B COE for the GS 250, six versions on our form and insurance that rises 71% without an NCD.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Lexus GS is no longer on the new-car list, so in Singapore you would be buying one used. Our quote form lists engines from 1,998cc up to 3,456cc, which makes a real difference to road tax. This page sets out what we can show for the GS 250, the version most insurers quote.

We cover the COE, road tax and car insurance. The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how the costs behave, not what you will pay.

Six versions on our form

Our quote form lists these GS versions:

  • GS 200: 1,998cc
  • GS 250: 2,500cc
  • GS 300: 2,994cc
  • GS 350: 3,456cc
  • GS 350 AWD: 3,441cc
  • GS 450h: 3,456cc

The figures below are for the GS 250. There is no list price, as the GS has no new-car list entry. Check the engine size of any car you look at, as road tax follows it.

COE

The price page's COE section says the GS 250, with a 2,500cc engine, is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE.

Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. The COE page shows later rounds. On a used GS, the COE expiry date matters as much as the asking price.

Road tax

For the GS 250's 2,500cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,798.60 a year, before any age surcharge. The GS 200 pays less; the 300, 350 and 450h pay more. The road tax page works out each.

The age surcharge:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Insurance for the example driver

The Lexus GS price page prices this case:

  • Car: GS 250, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

13 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$886.61. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,993.05. That is S$1,106.44 more, or 125% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Three insurers that price cars online have no online price for the GS yet, so 13 quotes is the field you can compare online.

The excess

The excess is what you pay yourself on each claim. Of the 21 plans on this page, ten carry S$600. One asks S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Three ask S$2,500, one asks S$3,000 and one has none. Before you choose on premium, check the excess that comes with it.

How the premium changes

The price page reprices the car with one change:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,517.79, S$631.18 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,461.09, S$574.48 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,517.79, S$631.18 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$886.61, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$931.07, S$44.46 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$811.71, S$74.90 less

Without an NCD, the lowest price is 71% higher. Even at 20% NCD, it is S$574.48 above the base case, so a partial discount helps only a little. The younger driver pays the same as the no-NCD case.

The 65-year-old pays the same as the 40-year-old. A new car adds S$44.46, and an 8-year-old one saves S$74.90. These are lowest prices only, and other plans may move by different amounts.

For a GS buyer, the NCD is the figure to check first. If yours is below 50%, the example price will not apply to you, and a different insurer may be lowest.

Note too that NCD builds over years of claim-free driving. A claim can cut it. So the discount you hold when you buy a GS will shape your premium for some time after.

Against similar cars

The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:

They average S$892.30. The GS costs 1% less than that average. Even so, five of the six are cheaper to insure; only the Audi RS 3 Sedan costs more. Other Lexus models, including the ES, are on the Lexus car insurance page.

Costs that depend on you

These vary by owner, so we give no figures:

  • Parking: season parking at home and work, plus parking in town.
  • Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price. The 450h on the form pairs petrol with an electric motor.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and times.
  • Servicing and repairs: on a used car, ask for the service record and what is due next.
  • Depreciation: depends on the price you pay and the COE life left.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
