The Lexus ES is sold new in Singapore as a hybrid and as an electric car, and older petrol versions are on the used market. This page covers what it costs to buy and keep one. It includes the list prices, the COE, road tax and car insurance.
The new-car list figures are for today's ES 350h and ES 350e. The insurance, road tax and COE figures are for the ES 250 Auto, which most insurers quote. Each section says which version it covers. Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026.
Versions, new and on our form
The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has two ES versions on sale, listed under luxury cars and made in Japan:
- ES 350h Hybrid 2.5: petrol-electric, 2,487cc, 244bhp
- ES 350e Electric Pure Electric 74.69 kWh: electric, 221bhp
Our quote form lists five versions:
- ES 250 Auto: 2,494cc
- ES 300: 2,995cc
- ES 300 2.5: 2,494cc
- ES 350: 3,456cc
- ES Pure Electric 74.69 kWh: electric
The insurance figures below are for the ES 250 Auto.
List prices
As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included in the list price that day:
- ES 350h Hybrid 2.5: S$370,800
- ES 350e Electric: S$396,800
These move with every COE round, so a dealer's price today may differ. When you compare offers, check what each includes.
COE
The price page's COE section covers the ES 250 Auto. With a 2,494cc engine, above 1,600cc, it needs a Category B COE. That category closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
The page states no category for the hybrid or the electric version, so we give none for them. The COE page has the latest results.
Road tax
For the ES 250's 2,494cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,791.56 a year, before any age surcharge. The other versions differ: the ES 300 and ES 350 have larger engines, and the electric version has no engine size at all. We give no road tax figure for it here. The road tax page covers the others.
The age surcharge, for cars over 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Insurance for the example driver
The Lexus ES price page prices this case:
- Car: ES 250 Auto, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
14 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$886.61. The insurer with the dearest lowest plan asks at least S$1,993.04, which is S$1,106.43 more, or 125% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Only two insurers that price cars online have no online price for the ES yet.
The excess
The excess is what you pay on each claim. Ten of the 22 plans on this page carry S$600. Two ask S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Three ask S$2,500, one asks S$3,000 and one has none. Look at the excess next to every premium you compare.
How the price changes
The price page reprices the car with one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,327.43, S$440.82 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,327.43, S$440.82 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,327.43, S$440.82 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$886.61, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$931.07, S$44.46 more
- Car 8 years old: S$811.71, S$74.90 less
No NCD costs the most: the lowest price is 50% higher. A younger, less experienced driver comes to the same figure. The 65-year-old pays the same as the base driver. A new car adds S$44.46, and an 8-year-old one saves S$74.90.
These are lowest prices only. Once the NCD falls, a different insurer is lowest, so if your discount is not 50%, the page's ranking will not be yours.
If you hold a full NCD from another car, it carries across. Keep proof of it ready when you get quotes, as it is worth more here than any other change on the list.
Against similar cars
The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:
- Audi RS 3 Sedan: S$1,310.08
- Mitsubishi Outlander: S$861.03
- Toyota Camry: S$841.31
- Honda Odyssey: S$811.71
- Toyota Alphard: S$764.82
- Toyota Vellfire: S$764.82
They average S$892.30. The ES costs 1% less than that, yet five of the six are cheaper to insure. The average is pulled up by the Audi RS 3 Sedan, which only 3 insurers price. Other Lexus models are on the Lexus car insurance page.
Costs that depend on you
- Parking: season parking at home and work, plus parking in town.
- Petrol or charging: depends on how far you drive and on pump or charging prices. The 350h pairs petrol with an electric motor; the 350e runs on charged power.
- ERP: depends on your routes and times.
- Servicing and repairs: ask what the warranty and any service package cover on a new car, or for the records on a used one.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay and what the car fetches later.
