Jaguar X-Type Estate costs in Singapore, from COE to insurance

What a Jaguar X-Type Estate 2.0 costs to keep in Singapore: Category B COE, yearly road tax and insurance prices for set drivers, dated October 2026.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

You will not find a Jaguar X-Type Estate on the new-car list, so in Singapore this is a used buy. If you are weighing one up, or want to check what your current one costs, this page sets out the figures we have. It covers the COE category, road tax and car insurance.

The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you compare. They are not what you will be quoted.

The version on our form

Our quote form has one version:

  • X-Type Estate 2.0: 1,998cc

As the model has no new-car list entry, there is no list price to show. Every figure here is for the 2.0.

COE

Per the price page's COE section, the X-Type Estate 2.0 has a 1,998cc engine, above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE.

That category closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. The COE page has the newest results, as the figure changes every round. On a used car, find out when its COE expires. A short COE life left lowers what the car is worth.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year for a 1,998cc engine, before any age surcharge.

Once a car is past 10 years, a surcharge is added:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Check the car's registration date to see which step applies. The road tax page has other engine sizes.

Car insurance for the base case

The Jaguar X-Type Estate price page uses these details:

  • Car: X-Type Estate 2.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

10 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$1,068.68. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,903.96. That is S$835.28 more, or 78% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

The page prices a car 3 years old, and an X-Type Estate on sale today may well be older than that. The 8-year-old row below gives a closer guide for an older car.

Six insurers that price cars online have no online price for the X-Type Estate yet. That leaves fewer quotes to compare than for a common model. Each of the six similar cars further down is priced by 14 or 15 insurers, so the X-Type Estate has a thinner field. If you want more quotes, ask the other insurers whether they will price it by phone or through an agent.

The excess

Each plan has an excess: the part of a claim you pay. Nine of the 16 plans here carry S$600. Three ask S$800, two S$750 and one S$500. One plan stands out at S$2,500. Look at the excess before you settle on a premium. A plan with a low premium and a high excess suits someone who rarely claims. A plan with a lower excess costs less when something does go wrong.

What shifts the premium

The price page changes one detail at a time:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,201.06, S$132.38 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,201.06, S$132.38 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,201.06, S$132.38 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,068.68, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$1,074.45, S$5.77 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$977.95, S$90.73 less

The biggest change is having no NCD, which lifts the lowest price by 12%. That is a smaller jump than on many cars. A younger driver with 30% NCD lands on the same figure. The 65-year-old pays the same as the base driver. An older car is cheaper to insure. These are lowest prices; other plans may react differently.

In short, the X-Type Estate's lowest premium moves within a fairly tight range across these changes. If your NCD is below 50%, it still pays to compare, as a different insurer comes out lowest once the discount drops.

The X-Type Estate and similar cars

The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The X-Type Estate costs 23% more. All six are cheaper to insure at these settings. Other Jaguars are on the Jaguar car insurance page.

Costs we cannot put a number on

These depend on the owner:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus work and errands.
  • Petrol: depends on how much you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and times.
  • Servicing and repairs: on an older car, wear parts come due. Ask for the service record.
  • Depreciation: depends on the price paid and the COE years left.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
