The Ford Mondeo is a model you will now find only second-hand in Singapore. If you are pricing one up, the yearly bills are what matter most. This page covers the costs we hold figures for: road tax, the COE category and car insurance.
All insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you see the spread and what changes it. Your own premium depends on your own details.
Five versions on the quote form
There is no Mondeo on the current new-car list, so this page gives no list price. Our quote form carries five versions that owners insure:
- Mondeo 2.0: 1,999cc
- Mondeo 2.0A Ecoboost: 1,999cc
- Mondeo 2.0A Ecoboost Wagon: 1,999cc
- Mondeo 2.3: 2,261cc
- Mondeo 2.5 (A): 2,495cc
The prices that follow are for the 2.0, the version most of our insurers quote. The 2.3 and 2.5 have bigger engines, so their road tax is higher and their premiums can differ.
Which COE it needs
The price page is clear here. With a 1,999cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Mondeo 2.0 needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
For a used Mondeo, the COE it carries decides how many years remain before it must be renewed or deregistered. That remaining life is worth checking on any car you view. The COE page shows each round's results.
Road tax each year
LTA's formula sets road tax by engine size. For the 2.0's 1,999cc engine, it comes to S$1,210.92 a year, before any age surcharge.
A used Mondeo may already be past its tenth year. If yours is, expect the surcharge on top:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The surcharge grows each year until it reaches half the base tax. For the 2.3 and 2.5 engines, use the road tax page to find the base figure.
Insuring a Mondeo 2.0
The Ford Mondeo price page prices this set of details:
- Car: Mondeo 2.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: 40 years old, married, office-based, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
15 insurers price it, which is a wide field. Only one insurer on our panel has no online price for it. The lowest premium is S$742.90. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,822.60. That is S$1,079.70 more, or 145% on top. All figures include 9% GST.
A gap that wide means the same car and driver can pay more than double, depending only on where the policy comes from.
Excess: a wide range
The excess is what you pay yourself on each claim. On this page most plans set it at S$600 or S$500. Some sit at S$750 or S$800. Several plans carry S$2,500 or even S$3,000, and one has no excess at all.
Some of the lower premiums on the page come with those large excesses. Before you settle on a price, check what you would pay out of pocket after a claim.
Prices when one thing changes
The price page shows the lowest premium after a single change, with the rest left alone:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,089.84, or S$346.94 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,089.84, or S$346.94 more
- A driver aged 27 with 3 years' driving and 30% NCD: S$1,089.84, or S$346.94 more
- A driver aged 65 with 20 or more years' driving: S$742.90, unchanged
- A new car, registered this year: S$764.82, or S$21.92 more
- A car 8 years old: S$666.79, or S$76.11 less
Losing the NCD has the largest effect: the lowest price goes up 47%. That is why a claim can cost you for years afterwards, not just at the time.
The car's age pulls the other way. An 8-year-old Mondeo shows a lower lowest premium than a 3-year-old one. These figures follow the lowest plan only, so dearer plans may shift by other amounts.
Next to similar cars
The price page puts the Mondeo beside six cars of similar engine size, for the same driver and car age:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
Their average lowest price is S$867.25. The Mondeo comes in 14% below that. None of the six is cheaper to insure, and the Harrier matches it. More Ford models are on the Ford car insurance page.
What depends on you
Some yearly costs have no fixed figure because they follow your own habits.
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus the office and town. Find out your own block's rate.
- Petrol: depends on your distance and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and timings.
- Servicing and repairs: wear items such as tyres, brakes and the battery come due. On an older car, ask for receipts and a service record.
- Depreciation: set by the price you pay and the COE life left on the car.
