The Ford C-Max is not on the new-car list today, so anyone who has one bought it a while ago or is looking at a used one. This page sets out the costs we can put a figure to, and the ones we cannot.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how the costs work, not what you will pay. Your own premium depends on your details.
The version on our form
Our quote form prices the C-Max 1.6 EcoBoost, with a 1,596cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote, and every figure below is for it.
With no current new-car list entry, this page gives no list price and no power figure.
COE
The COE category for the 1.6 EcoBoost turns on power, since its 1,596cc engine is under the engine-size line:
- Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026, 1st round
- Category B if its power is more: S$130,100 in the same round
A used C-Max already has a COE. The category still matters if you renew it at the end of its term. Results change each round, and the COE page shows the latest.
Road tax
LTA works road tax out from engine size. The C-Max's 1,596cc engine comes to S$740.56 a year before any age surcharge, on the formula checked 2026-10-19.
Once a car is past 10 years old, a surcharge is added:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Check the registration date of any car you look at, because the surcharge steps up each year. On an older C-Max, that can add a noticeable sum to the yearly bill. The road tax page has the sums for other engine sizes.
Insurance for one example driver
The Ford C-Max price page uses these details:
- Car: C-Max 1.6 EcoBoost, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
Only 5 insurers price this car on those details. The lowest premium is S$954.93. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,120.15, which is S$165.22 more, or 17% on top. Prices include 9% GST.
That spread is narrower than on many popular models, but the choice is also thinner. Eleven insurers show no online price for the C-Max at all. If you own one, that limits how many quotes you can line up side by side.
Excess
The excess is the amount you pay towards each claim. On this page it is S$600 on most plans and S$800 on the rest. Some prices are marked as estimates, and each one carries the date its insurer's table was read.
How the lowest price shifts
The price page changes one detail at a time and shows the lowest premium that results:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,120.15, S$165.22 more (17%)
- 20% NCD: S$1,120.15, the same rise
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,120.15, S$165.22 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,037.29, S$82.36 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,045.87, S$90.94 more
- A car 8 years old: S$873.07, S$81.86 less
A few points stand out. A lower NCD and a younger driver all land on the same figure. The older driver pays more here, not the same, and fewer insurers quote that case. The 8-year-old car is the only change that brings the price down. These are lowest prices only. Other plans can move by different amounts.
Set against similar cars
The price page lines up six similar cars for the same driver and car age:
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
- Hyundai Kona: S$721.59
Their average lowest price is S$724.93. The C-Max costs 32% more than that, and all six are cheaper to insure on these details. Each of them is priced by 12 or more insurers, against 5 for the C-Max. Other Fords are on the Ford car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.
Costs that vary with you
These depend too much on the owner for one figure:
- Parking: an HDB or condo season parking charge, plus car parks at work and in town.
- Petrol: your mileage and the pump price decide it.
- ERP: set by your routes and the times you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: an older car can need tyres, brakes, a battery and other parts. Ask for the service history and an inspection before you buy a used one.
- Depreciation: on a used car it depends on the price you pay and the COE years left.
