Road tax, COE category and dated insurance examples for the Ford Focus Stationwagon 1.6 in Singapore, with similar cars set alongside.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

A Ford Focus Stationwagon in Singapore today will be a used car, since the model is not on the new-car list. If you have one or are looking at one, this page brings together the yearly costs we can show: road tax and car insurance, with the COE for context.

The premiums below are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Read them as a guide to how prices compare. Your own quote depends on your details.

The version on our form

The price page uses the Focus Stationwagon 1.6, with a 1,596cc engine, the version most of our insurers quote. With no new-car list entry, this page gives no list price, power or body details.

At a glance

  • Road tax: S$740.56 a year before any age surcharge
  • Insurance, example driver: from S$642.42 a year
  • Insurers that price it: 13
  • COE: Category A or B, depending on power

The sections below explain each one.

Car insurance

The details we priced

The Ford Focus Stationwagon price page assumes:

  • Car: Focus Stationwagon 1.6, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

The range of prices

On those details, 13 insurers give a price. The lowest premium is S$642.42. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,274.75. That is S$632.33 more, or 98% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Three insurers on our panel show no online price for this car. The price page names them and gives the reason for each.

The excess on each plan

Your excess is what you pay on each claim before cover starts. Across this page, plans set S$500, S$600, S$750 or S$800, with S$600 the most common. One plan sets S$0. That plan is near the top of the price list. Compare the excess alongside the premium, not after it.

Several prices are estimates, and one includes a promo code. The page shows the date each insurer's table was read.

When your details differ

The price page also shows the lowest premium when one detail changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,036.64, S$394.22 more, which is 61% up
  • 20% NCD: S$1,036.64, the same
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,036.64, S$394.22 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$642.42, no change
  • A new car, registered this year: S$660.69, S$18.27 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$586.41, S$56.01 less

The NCD is the detail to watch. Without it, the lowest price is 61% higher. A 20% NCD or a younger driver lands on the same raised figure. An older driver pays the same as the example. The age of the car makes only a small change, and the older car is the cheaper. These are lowest prices only. Other plans may rise or fall by different amounts.

Similar cars for comparison

Six similar cars are priced on the page for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$724.93, and the Stationwagon is 11% below it. Only the Sienta is cheaper to insure. The Corolla Altis and the Freed match the Stationwagon. Other Fords sit on the Ford car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks every make.

Road tax

LTA sets road tax by engine size. For the Stationwagon's 1,596cc engine, the formula gives S$740.56 a year, before any age surcharge. It was checked on 2026-10-19.

Once the car is over 10 years old, a surcharge is added each year:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page shows the figures for other engine sizes. When you look at a used car, work out how many years it has left before each surcharge step.

COE

With its 1,596cc engine, the Stationwagon 1.6's category depends on power:

  • Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026, 1st round
  • Category B if its power is more: S$130,100 in that round

A used Stationwagon comes with its COE. The category matters if you renew at the end of the term. The COE page shows each new round.

Costs we cannot price for you

These turn on your own use:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and on outings.
  • Petrol: your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: the gantries you pass and when.
  • Servicing and repairs: wear parts such as tyres, brakes and a battery. Ask what the previous owner replaced.
  • Depreciation: the price you pay against the COE years left.
