Ford Kuga Trend running costs and car insurance in Singapore

What a Ford Kuga Trend costs to keep on Singapore roads: road tax, COE rules and dated car insurance prices for several driver profiles.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

If you own a Ford Kuga Trend, or are weighing up a used one, this page sets out the yearly costs we can put a figure on. It covers road tax, the COE rules and, in most detail, car insurance.

The insurance prices here are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote. Your own premium depends on your age, your record and the car you actually own.

Which Kuga Trend is priced

The Kuga Trend is not on the current new-car list, so there is no list price to show. Cars on the road today come from the used market.

Our quote form lists two versions:

  • Kuga Trend 1.5: 1,498cc
  • Kuga Trend 1.6: 1,596cc

The insurance figures on this page are for the 1.5, the version most of our insurers quote. If your car is the 1.6, its premium and its road tax will differ.

Road tax for the 1.5

Road tax in Singapore is set by engine size. For the 1,498cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$683.08 a year, before any age surcharge.

That surcharge matters for a model that is no longer sold new. Once a car passes 10 years old, the tax rises each year:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

So check the registration date of any Kuga Trend you look at. An older example can carry a noticeably larger road tax bill than the base figure. The road tax page covers other engine sizes, including the 1.6.

The COE question

The price page sets out the COE rule for the 1.5. With its 1,498cc engine, the Kuga Trend 1.5 needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. If its power is more, it needs a Category B COE.

In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. For a used car, the COE already on it sets how many years it can stay on the road. Results move every round, and the COE page carries the latest.

Insurance for a typical driver

The Ford Kuga Trend price page prices one set of details:

  • The car: Kuga Trend 1.5, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • The driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving for 10 to 19 years
  • The record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD) and no claims
  • Repairs: at an authorised workshop, with no options added

On those details, 12 insurers price the car. The lowest premium is S$811.71. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,522.02. That is S$710.31 more, or 88% on top. Every price includes 9% GST.

Some insurers offer more than one plan, so the page lists more plans than insurers. A few prices are marked as estimates. The page also notes which insurers have no online price for this model yet.

Read the excess too

Beside each premium sits an excess: the share of each claim you pay yourself. On this page most plans set it at S$600. Others run at S$500, S$750 or S$800, and one plan has no excess at all.

A low premium with a high excess can cost more after a claim than a dearer plan with a small one. When you compare, put the two figures side by side.

What moves the price

The price page also shows the lowest premium when a single detail changes. Everything else stays as above.

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,080.50, which is S$268.79 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,080.50, also S$268.79 more
  • Driver aged 27 with 3 years' driving and 30% NCD: S$1,080.50, S$268.79 more
  • Driver aged 65 with 20 or more years' driving: S$811.71, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$836.07, S$24.36 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$742.90, S$68.81 less

The biggest single change is losing your NCD. With no discount, the lowest price rises by 33%. A younger, newer driver lands on the same lowest figure here.

Age of car works the other way. An 8-year-old Kuga Trend shows a lower lowest premium than one registered 3 years ago. These are the lowest prices only, and dearer plans can move by different amounts.

How it compares with similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page sets the Kuga Trend beside six similar cars. Here is each one's lowest premium:

The average of those six is S$735.99. The Kuga Trend sits 10% above it, and four of the six are cheaper to insure. The BMW X1 matches it, and only the Mazda 3 costs more. Other Ford models are on the Ford car insurance page, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks models side by side.

Costs that vary by owner

Some running costs depend too much on how and where you drive to give one figure.

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work, malls and on the street. Check your own rates first.
  • Petrol: set by your mileage and the pump price on the day.
  • ERP: set by the roads you use and the times you use them.
  • Servicing and repairs: tyres, brakes and a battery fall due over the years. On an older car, ask for its service record before you buy.
  • Depreciation: what the car loses in value depends on what you pay and how much COE life remains.

The figures in one place

For the Kuga Trend 1.5, dated as shown:

  • Road tax: S$683.08 a year before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$811.71 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,080.50
  • Insurance, car 8 years old: from S$742.90
  • COE, October 2026 1st round: S$130,001 (Category A) or S$130,100 (Category B)
