The cost of owning and insuring a Ford Kuga in Singapore

Ford Kuga 1.5 Titanium in Singapore: road tax, COE category and car insurance examples dated 20 October 2026, against similar cars.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

You are most likely to meet the Ford Kuga as a used car, since it has no entry on the new-car list now. This page sets out the yearly costs we can show for it in Singapore: car insurance, road tax and, for context, the COE.

The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver on 20 October 2026. Read them as a way to compare, not as a quote. Your own premium depends on your answers.

Two engines on the form

Our quote form lists two Kuga versions:

  • Kuga 1.5 Titanium: 1,498cc
  • Kuga 2.5 Turbo: 2,521cc

The price page uses the 1.5 Titanium, the version most of our insurers quote. All figures below are for it. As there is no new-car list entry, we give no list price, power figure or body type.

Insurance, the biggest variable

The details behind the prices

The Ford Kuga price page prices this case:

  • Car: Kuga 1.5 Titanium, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

The spread of premiums

14 insurers price the Kuga on those details. The lowest premium is S$811.71 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,825.64. That is S$1,013.93 more, or 125% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

So the same driver could pay more than twice as much for a Kuga depending on the insurer. Only two insurers on our panel show no online price for it.

Excess

The excess is your share of any claim. Most plans here set S$600. Others set S$500, S$750 or S$800. Some set S$2,500 or S$3,000, including one of the lower-priced plans. One plan sets S$0. Put the excess next to the premium when you compare.

Some prices are estimates, and one includes a promo code. Each price shows the date its insurer's table was read.

When one detail changes

Here is the lowest premium with one change made:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,117.23, S$305.52 more, a 38% rise
  • 20% NCD: S$1,117.23, the same
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,117.23, S$305.52 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$811.71, no change
  • A new car, registered this year: S$836.07, S$24.36 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$742.90, S$68.81 less

The NCD makes the biggest difference. Without it, the lowest price is S$305.52 higher. A 20% NCD or a younger driver gives the same figure. The car's age moves the price less, and an older Kuga is cheaper at the lowest price. These are lowest prices only. Other plans may change by more or less.

Against similar cars

The price page lines up six similar cars for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$735.99. The Kuga is 10% above it. Four of the six are cheaper to insure: the Corolla Altis, the Sienta, the GLB and the Freed. The BMW X1 matches the Kuga, and only the Mazda 3 costs more. The Ford car insurance page covers other Fords. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.

Road tax

LTA's formula sets road tax by engine size. For the 1.5 Titanium's 1,498cc engine, it is S$683.08 a year, before any age surcharge. This was checked on 2026-10-19.

A surcharge is added once the car passes 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The 2.5 Turbo has a much bigger engine, so its road tax is higher. If you are choosing between the two, the road tax page shows the figure for each engine size.

COE

The Kuga 1.5 Titanium has a 1,498cc engine, so its category depends on power:

  • Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026, 1st round
  • Category B if its power is more: S$130,100 in that round

A Kuga on the road already holds its COE. The category becomes relevant again if you renew at the end of the term. Results change every round; the COE page has the latest.

Costs that depend on your use

These vary too much to price:

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work, malls and on the street.
  • Petrol: how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: your routes and the times you pass the gantries.
  • Servicing and repairs: tyres, brakes, a battery and other wear parts over the years. Ask for the service history before you buy.
  • Depreciation: the price you pay against the COE years left.
