The Focus Wagon Titanium on our quote form has a small 1.0 engine. It is not on the new-car list, so anyone running one today bought it a few years ago or is looking at the used market. In Singapore that small engine matters, because road tax follows engine size. This page sets out the costs we can show and the ones that depend on you.
The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They give you a sense of the market, not a quote. Your own premium depends on your answers.
The version priced
The price page uses the Focus Wagon Titanium 1.0, with a 999cc engine. Most of our insurers quote it. The model has no new-car list entry, so this page gives no list price or power figure.
Road tax kept low by a small engine
For a 999cc engine, LTA's formula gives road tax of S$390.80 a year, before any age surcharge. This was checked on 2026-10-19.
The surcharge comes in after the tenth year and climbs each year:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
For the figures on bigger engines, see the road tax page. If you are choosing between this car and a car with a larger engine, road tax is one of the clearest differences you can check in advance.
The COE question
With a 999cc engine, the category depends on power:
- Category A if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026, 1st round
- Category B if its power is more: S$130,100 in that round
The car already has a COE if it is on the road. This becomes a cost again only if you renew at the end of the term. The COE page shows each round's results.
What insurance costs for one driver
The Ford Focus Wagon Titanium price page prices this case:
- Car: Focus Wagon Titanium 1.0, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
13 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$660.69 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,295.36. That is S$634.67 more, or 96% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
The second-lowest price is S$732.08, so the lowest is not far ahead of the next one. The dearest plan on the page, at S$1,516.15, is an estimate. Three insurers have no online price for this car, and the price page gives the reason for each one.
Excess
The excess is what you pay yourself on each claim. Most plans here set it at S$600. Others set S$500 or S$800. One sets S$2,500 and one sets S$0. Both of those are among the dearer plans. A premium only tells half the story; the excess tells the rest.
Several prices are estimates. Each one shows the date its insurer's table was read.
How the price reacts to change
Here is the lowest premium with one detail changed:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,050.84, S$390.15 more (59%)
- 20% NCD: S$1,050.84, the same rise
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,050.84, S$390.15 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$660.69, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$666.79, only S$6.10 more
- A car 8 years old: S$604.07, S$56.62 less
What stands out is how little the car's age matters next to the driver's record. A new car adds just S$6.10. Dropping the NCD adds S$390.15. A younger driver with less NCD pays the same raised figure. These are lowest prices only; other plans may move by different amounts.
Alongside similar cars
The price page prices six similar cars for the same driver and car age:
- Audi A1: S$660.69
- Audi Q2: S$660.69
- Chery A1: S$774.43
- Chery QQ: S$545.00
- Citroen C3: S$604.07
- Daihatsu Copen: S$718.87
Their average lowest price is S$660.63, about the same as the Focus Wagon Titanium. Two of them, the Chery QQ and the Citroen C3, are cheaper to insure. Both Audis match it. The Chery A1 and the Copen each have only 7 insurers pricing them. The Ford car insurance page lists other Fords, and the cheapest cars to insure page ranks all makes.

- Petrol: your distance and the pump price.
- ERP: your routes and the hours you drive.
