The Ford Focus Trend is one of the Focus names you will see in used-car listings here. It is not on the new-car list now. This page looks at its running costs in Singapore, item by item, so you can see what you are signing up for.
All insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own premium may differ, because it depends on your answers. Use these figures to compare, not as a quote.
What we priced
Our quote form prices the Focus Trend 1.6 5DR, with a 1,596cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote. As there is no new-car list entry, we give no list price, power figure or body type.
Insurance: the main variable cost
The Ford Focus Trend price page uses one profile:
- Car: Focus Trend 1.6 5DR, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
14 insurers price it on that profile. The lowest premium is S$642.42 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,545.94. That is S$903.52 more, or 141% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
In plain terms, one insurer's lowest plan costs well over twice another's for the same car and driver. That makes this the cost where comparing quotes has the most effect. Only two insurers on our panel have no online price for it.
Excess
The excess is the part of a claim you pay. On this page most plans set it at S$600. Others set S$500, S$750, S$800 or S$2,500, and one plan sets S$0. The plan with the S$2,500 excess is also at the top of the price list. So look at what each plan asks you to pay on a claim, as well as what it charges each year.
Some prices are estimates, and one includes a promo code. The price page shows each insurer's table date.
Changes that move the premium
The page changes one detail and shows the new lowest price:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,017.12, up S$374.70, or 58%
- 20% NCD: S$1,017.12, the same
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,017.12, up S$374.70
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$642.42, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$660.69, up S$18.27
- A car 8 years old: S$586.41, down S$56.01
The pattern is clear. Your NCD drives most of the change. A lower NCD, or a younger driver with fewer years of licence, puts the lowest price up by S$374.70. The age of the car shifts it far less. The 65-year-old driver sees no change. Keep in mind these are lowest prices only, and each plan has its own rates.

Road tax
Road tax depends on engine size. For the Trend's 1,596cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$740.56 a year before any age surcharge. This was checked on 2026-10-19.
The surcharge applies to cars more than 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Ask for the registration date before you buy, so you know which band the car is in now and which it moves into next. The road tax page covers every engine size.
COE
The Trend 1.6 5DR has a 1,596cc engine, so power sets its category:
- Category A for 97kW (130bhp) or less: S$130,001 in the October 2026, 1st round
- Category B for more: S$130,100 in that round
A Trend on the road already has its COE. The category matters again if you renew at the end of the term. For each round's results, see the COE page.
Costs set by how you use the car
There is no single figure for these:
- Parking: your HDB or condo season parking, plus work, mall and street parking.
- Petrol: what you drive each month and the pump price.
- ERP: your routes and travel times.
- Servicing and repairs: as the car gets older, tyres, brakes and a battery wear out. Ask for receipts for past work.
- Depreciation: the price you pay set against the COE years remaining.
