Citroen Grand C4 Picasso 1.8 in Singapore, costs and insurance

The Citroen Grand C4 Picasso 1.8i in Singapore: a Category B COE, road tax for 1,749cc and dated insurance prices for one driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

Our "Citroen Grand" price page prices the Grand C4 Picasso 1.8i 16v. Its 1,749cc engine sits just above the 1,600cc line, and that sets its COE category. This page covers that, road tax and car insurance, with dated figures.

The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote.

Versions on the form

The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. So there is no list price, power or body type here.

Our quote form lists four versions under this name:

  • Grand C4 Picasso HDi: 1,560cc
  • Grand C4 Picasso 1.8i 16v: 1,749cc
  • Grand C4 Picasso 2.0: 1,997cc
  • Grand C4 SpaceTourer 1.2: 1,199cc

The figures below are for the Grand C4 Picasso 1.8i 16v, the version most of our insurers quote. The others have different engines, so their road tax and COE rule differ.

A Category B COE

With a 1,749cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Grand C4 Picasso 1.8i 16v needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.

The price moves every round; the COE page has the latest. On a used car, what matters is the number of years left on the current COE.

Road tax

For the 1,749cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$917.68 a year. That was checked on 2026-10-19 and is before any age surcharge.

The surcharge applies after 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

For the other versions, see the road tax page.

Car insurance

The standard driver

The Citroen Grand price page prices:

  • Car: Grand C4 Picasso 1.8i 16v, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

What 11 insurers ask

11 insurers price the car for that driver. The lowest premium is S$700.28 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,480.53. That is S$780.25 more, or 111% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Five insurers on our panel have no online price for this model.

At the lowest price, insurance costs less than the road tax. At the dearest, it costs well over that.

The excess

The excesses here are tightly grouped. Most plans set S$600. Two set S$500 and three S$800. One plan has no excess. None on this page goes above S$800.

That makes the plans easier to compare on premium alone. Still, check the excess on the plan you pick.

How the price moves

The price page shows the lowest price when one thing changes:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,168.36, S$468.08 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,168.36, S$468.08 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,168.36, S$468.08 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$700.28, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$721.59, S$21.31 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$642.42, S$57.86 less

Without NCD, the lowest price is 67% higher. A 20% NCD and a younger driver reach the same figure.

The older driver pays the same. An 8-year-old car is a little cheaper to insure.

A family car is often shared. If a younger driver will use it, the figure for the 27-year-old is a useful guide. These are lowest prices; other plans may move by more.

Comparing quotes

Also look at:

  • Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Some plans let you use any workshop.
  • Named drivers: how each plan prices other drivers in the family.
  • NCD protection: an optional extra on some plans.
  • Excess: your share of each claim.

Against similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:

Their average is S$728.48. The Grand C4 Picasso is 4% below that. Three of the six are cheaper to insure: the Corolla Altis, Sienta and Freed.

Other Citroen models are on the Citroen car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.

Checks before you buy

For a used Grand C4 Picasso, confirm:

  • Version and engine: this sets the road tax and the COE rule.
  • COE expiry: the years of use left.
  • Road tax: when it falls due.
  • Your own quote: for this version and your details.

Costs that depend on you

These have no single figure:

  • Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus elsewhere.
  • Petrol: your distance and the pump price.
  • ERP: your routes and hours.
  • Parts and servicing: for an older car, ask how parts are sourced and who services it.
  • Depreciation: for a used car, mostly the COE years left.

The yearly figures

For the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso 1.8i 16v (1,749cc), dated as shown:

  • Road tax: S$917.68 a year before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$700.28 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,168.36
  • Insurance, a car 8 years old: from S$642.42

A fresh Category B COE closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
