The Citroen DS5 is no longer on the new-car list, and our quote form carries two versions of it. For a used buyer, the useful numbers are the ones that recur every year. This page lists them, with the dates each was read.
Insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are not a quote. Your own price depends on your details.
The versions
The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now, so this page gives no list price, power or body type.
Our quote form lists:
- DS5 1.6: 1,560cc
- DS5 1.6 THP 155: 1,599cc
The figures below are for the DS5 1.6, the version most of our insurers quote. The THP's engine is slightly larger, so its road tax is a little higher.
The COE
With a 1,560cc engine, the DS5 1.6 needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.
In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. These change every round; the COE page has the latest.
For a used DS5, check the COE expiry date. That date sets how long you can keep the car on the road.
Road tax
For the 1,560cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$719.44 a year. That was checked on 2026-10-19 and is before any age surcharge.
Older cars pay more:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page has the sum for the THP.
Car insurance
The details
The Citroen DS5 price page prices:
- Car: DS5 1.6, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
What 15 insurers ask
15 insurers price the DS5 for that driver. The lowest premium is S$700.28 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,499.13. That is S$798.85 more, or 114% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Only one insurer on our panel has no online price for this model. That is a wide choice for an older model.
The excess
Most plans set a S$600 excess. Three set S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. Three set S$2,500 and one S$3,000. One plan has no excess.
Check the excess on each plan before you choose.
How the price changes
The price page shows the lowest price with one change:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,187.61, S$487.33 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,179.41, S$479.13 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,187.61, S$487.33 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$700.28, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$721.59, S$21.31 more
- A car 8 years old: S$642.42, S$57.86 less
Losing the NCD adds 70% at the lowest price. A 20% NCD saves very little on that, and a younger driver pays the no-NCD figure.
The older driver pays no more than the 40-year-old. An 8-year-old DS5 is cheaper to insure than the 3-year-old car on the page.
These are lowest prices. Other plans may move by more or less.
With the NCD worth this much, a small claim can cost more over the following years than the repair itself. Some plans let you protect the NCD for an extra charge.
Quote terms to compare
Beyond the price:
- Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Some plans allow any workshop.
- Named drivers: an extra, younger driver can raise the premium.
- NCD protection: an optional extra.
- Excess: your share of each claim.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42

- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
Their average is S$735.99. The DS5 is 5% below that. Three of the six are cheaper to insure: the Corolla Altis, Sienta and Freed.
Other Citroen models are on the Citroen car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.

- Petrol: your distance and the pump price.
- ERP: your routes and hours.
- Parts and servicing: for an older car, ask how parts are sourced and who services it.
- Depreciation: for a used car, mostly the COE years left.
