The DS3 THP is the 1,598cc version of the Citroen DS3. It is not on the new-car list now, so any you find will be used. Before you buy, it helps to see the yearly bills in one place. This page covers road tax, the COE and car insurance.
Every insurance price is an example for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. It is not a quote.
The car priced
The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now. There is no list price, power or body type on this page.
Our quote form prices the Citroen DS3 THP 1.6 (M) - COPE, with a 1,598cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote.
Insurance first
The standard driver
The Citroen DS3 THP price page prices:
- Car: DS3 THP 1.6, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
What 12 insurers ask
12 insurers price the DS3 THP for that driver. The lowest premium is S$908.92 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,455.35. That is S$546.43 more, or 60% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Four insurers on our panel have no online price for this model.
At the lowest price, insurance already costs more than the road tax each year.
The excess
Most plans set a S$600 excess. Two set S$500, two S$750 and three S$800. One plan sets S$2,500, and one has no excess.
Check the excess on each plan you consider. It is what you pay first on a claim.
How the price changes
The price page shows the lowest price when one detail differs:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,130.43, S$221.51 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,130.43, S$221.51 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,130.43, S$221.51 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,006.54, S$97.62 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$879.15, S$29.77 less
- A car 8 years old: S$856.98, S$51.94 less
The NCD is the biggest factor, at 24% more without it. A 20% NCD and a younger driver hit the same figure.
The older driver pays more. On this car, a new car and an 8-year-old car are both a little cheaper to insure than the 3-year-old car on the page.
These are lowest prices. Other plans may move differently.
The NCD still matters over time. A claim can reduce it, and the higher premium stays until the discount is rebuilt. Some plans offer NCD protection for an extra charge.
The COE
With a 1,598cc engine, the DS3 THP needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.
In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. These change every round; the COE page has the latest.
On a used DS3 THP, the years left on the COE count most.
Road tax
For the 1,598cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$741.72 a year. That was checked on 2026-10-19 and is before any age surcharge.
From the tenth year, the surcharge applies:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page has sums for other engines.
Terms to look at
Along with the price, check:
- Workshop: these prices assume an authorised workshop. Plans that allow any workshop may cost more or less.
- Named drivers: an extra, younger driver can raise the price.
- NCD protection: an optional extra on some plans.
- Excess: your share of each claim.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page lists six similar cars:
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42

- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Honda Freed: S$642.42

Other Citroen models are on the Citroen car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure page ranks models across makes.
Before you agree a price
For a used DS3 THP, confirm:
- COE expiry: the years of use left.
- Road tax: when it is due, and whether a surcharge applies.
- Your own quote: for this car and your details, since the premium is a large yearly cost here.
Costs that depend on you
These have no single figure:
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus elsewhere.
- Petrol: your distance and the pump price.
- ERP: your routes and hours.
- Parts and servicing: for an older car, ask how parts are sourced and who services it. Tyres, brakes and a battery come due.
- Depreciation: for a used car, mostly the COE years left.
