If you are weighing up a mid-size premium SUV, the Audi Q5 is likely on your list. This page adds up the costs we can show for it in Singapore: the price as listed, the COE, road tax and car insurance. It then covers the costs that depend on you.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how prices spread and move. They are not what you will pay.
Q5 versions on sale and on the road
The new-car list, read on 2026-10-10, shows five Q5 versions on sale. All are SUVs made in Mexico, each a petrol-electric mild hybrid with a 1,984cc engine and 201bhp:
- Q5 Mild Hybrid 2.0 Advanced TFSI S tronic
- Q5 Mild Hybrid 2.0 S line TFSI qu S tronic
- Q5 Mild Hybrid 2.0 Edition 1 TFSI qu S tronic
- Q5 Sportback Mild Hybrid 2.0 S line TFSI qu S tronic
- Q5 Sportback Mild Hybrid 2.0 Edition 1 TFSI qu S tronic
Our quote form lists three older versions: the 2.0 T (1,964cc), the 3.0 T (2,967cc) and the 3.2 FSI Premium Quattro (3,200cc). Our insurance figures are for the 2.0 T, the version most of our insurers quote.
List prices
As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included in the price that day:
- Q5 Mild Hybrid 2.0 Advanced: S$388,999
- Q5 Mild Hybrid 2.0 S line: S$410,999
- Q5 Sportback Mild Hybrid 2.0 S line: S$421,999
- Q5 Mild Hybrid 2.0 Edition 1: S$425,999
- Q5 Sportback Mild Hybrid 2.0 Edition 1: S$436,999
These prices move with each COE round and with dealer offers. When you compare quotes, check what each one includes before you look at the total.
The COE
The price page's COE section is clear for the 2.0 T. Its 1,964cc engine is above 1,600cc, so it needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
That figure changes every bidding round. The COE page carries the latest results.
Road tax
Road tax rises with engine size. For the 2.0 T's 1,964cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,169.88 a year, before any surcharge.
Older cars pay more. The surcharge begins after 10 years:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The 3.0 T and 3.2 have larger engines, and the new mild hybrids a slightly different one, so their road tax is not the same. The road tax page works out other engine sizes.
Insuring a Q5: the standard driver
The Audi Q5 price page uses one set of details:
- Car: Q5 2.0 T, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
14 insurers price this car for that driver. The lowest premium is S$1,043.77. The insurer whose lowest plan is the dearest asks at least S$3,033.06. The gap is S$1,989.29, or 191% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
That spread is wide even for a premium car. The lowest and highest quotes here are close to three times apart.
Watch the excess
The excess is what you pay towards a claim before the insurer pays the rest. On this page most plans carry S$600. Some ask S$500, S$750 or S$800. One goes to S$2,500 and one has no excess. Compare the excess alongside the premium, not after.
What moves the price
The price page shows the lowest price when one thing changes:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,278.31, up S$234.54
- 20% NCD: S$1,278.31, up S$234.54
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,278.31, up S$234.54
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$1,140.56, up S$96.79
- New car, registered this year: S$1,075.09, up S$31.32
- Car 8 years old: S$983.86, down S$59.91
The first three land on the same lowest price. Losing the NCD costs 22% more at the lowest price, the largest change in the table. An older driver pays a little more here, unlike on some cars. An 8-year-old Q5 is the only case that costs less.
Remember that these are the lowest prices. Other plans can move by more or less.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page sets six similar cars beside the Q5. Their lowest prices:
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Toyota Voxy: S$793.75
- Toyota Harrier: S$742.90
The six average S$867.25. The Q5 costs 20% more than that, and all 6 are cheaper to insure. If insurance cost weighs in your choice, it is worth pricing a rival too. The Audi car insurance page covers the brand's other models.
Costs that vary with the owner
These costs are real, but they depend on you, so no single figure fits:
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus office and mall charges. A larger SUV may suit some lots better than others, so check your own.
- Fuel: the mild hybrids still run on petrol. What you spend depends on distance and pump prices.
- ERP: set by your routes and timing.
- Servicing and repairs: the maker's service schedule, tyres, brakes and a battery over time. Ask what the warranty and any service package include.
- Depreciation: how much value the car sheds depends on the price you pay and what it sells for later.
