The short answer on cost: the Audi Q3 is a premium-priced compact SUV to buy. Once you own one, its insurance for a settled driver sits close to that of several mass-market family cars. The longer answer is below, item by item.
All insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They are a guide to how costs compare, not a quote for you.
The verdict in figures
- To buy: list prices from S$306,999, as listed on 2026-10-10, COE included
- To insure, standard driver: from S$787.96 a year
- Road tax for the priced 1.4: S$622.66 a year
- Spread across insurers: 15 insurers price it, and the dearest lowest plan is 87% above the lowest
The rest of this piece explains each of those figures and what changes them.
What is on sale
The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 shows four Q3 versions, all SUVs made in Hungary. All are mild hybrids with a 1,498cc engine and 148bhp:
- Q3 1.5 Advanced TFSI S tronic: S$306,999
- Q3 Sportback 1.5 Advanced TFSI S tronic: S$311,999
- Q3 1.5 Edition 1 TFSI S tronic: S$316,999
- Q3 Sportback 1.5 Edition 1 TFSI S tronic: S$321,999
Those are prices as listed on 2026-10-10, with COE in the list price that day. They change with every COE round.
Our quote form lists three Q3s: a 1.4 (1,395cc), a 1.5 TFSI (1,498cc) and a 2.0 T (1,964cc). The insurance figures here are for the Q3 1.4, the one most of our insurers price.
COE and road tax
The price page's COE note is for the Q3 1.4 and its 1,395cc engine. It needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. If its power is more, it needs Category B.
In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. See the COE page for later rounds.
Road tax for the 1,395cc engine is S$622.66 a year under LTA's formula, checked on 2026-10-19, before any surcharge. The current 1.5 has a different engine size, so look it up on the road tax page. A car more than 10 years old pays extra:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Who it suits on insurance cost
A settled family driver. The Audi Q3 price page prices a 40-year-old married office worker. The driver has 10 to 19 years of driving, a 50% NCD and no claims. The car is 3 years old, on comprehensive cover with authorised workshop repairs. The lowest premium for that driver is S$787.96. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,473.86, which is S$685.90 more. Prices include 9% GST.
An older driver. At 65, with 20 or more years of driving, the lowest price is S$787.96, the same as the standard case.
Someone buying an older Q3. A car 8 years old has a lowest price of S$721.59, S$66.37 less. A brand-new one is S$811.71, S$23.75 more.
Who may pay more
A driver without NCD. With no NCD, the lowest price rises to S$954.40, S$166.44 more. That is 21% above the standard case. A 20% NCD gives the same lowest price.
A younger driver. A 27-year-old with 3 years' driving and a 30% NCD also lands at S$954.40.
For this car, those gaps are smaller than for many others. Still, they are lowest prices only. Other plans can move by more.
Anyone who skims the excess. On this page the excess runs from S$0 to S$3,000. Most plans carry S$500 to S$800. A few carry S$2,500 or S$3,000. A lower premium with a high excess can cost you more at claim time.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page sets six similar cars beside the Q3. Their lowest prices:
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
They average S$735.99, and the Q3 is 7% above that. Three are cheaper to insure. The Q3 matches the GLB and sits below the X1. More Audi models are on the Audi car insurance page.
Questions to ask yourself
- How long will you keep it? The road tax surcharge only starts after 10 years. Insurance for this car fell with age in these figures.
- What is your NCD? It is the detail that moves the lowest price most here.
- Where will you park? Season parking at an HDB block or condo varies. Check your own rate.
- How far do you drive? Petrol and ERP depend on distance, routes and timing, so only you can estimate them.
- What does the service package cover? Ask about servicing, tyres and the warranty before you sign.
- What will it be worth later? Depreciation depends on what you pay and what the car fetches when you sell.
