Audi Q2 running costs and car insurance in Singapore

What the Audi Q2 costs to keep on Singapore roads: COE, road tax and dated car insurance examples for a stated driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 6 min read

The Audi Q2 is a small Audi with a small engine, and that matters more in Singapore than you might think. Road tax and, to some degree, insurance follow the engine and the model. This guide sets out what the Q2 costs you each year that we can put a figure on, and what moves those figures.

All insurance prices here are examples, read on 20 October 2026, for one stated driver. They are not a quote. Your own details will give a different number.

Which Q2 we priced

The new-car list has no Q2 on sale at the moment, so there is no list price to show. Our quote form carries three versions for cars already on the road:

  • Audi Q2 1.0 TFSI S tronic: 999cc
  • Audi Q2 1.4 TFSI COD S tronic: 1,395cc
  • Audi Q2 1.5 TFSI S tronic: 1,498cc

The insurance figures below are for the 1.0 TFSI S tronic. It is the version most of our insurers quote, so it gives the widest comparison.

COE and the Q2

A Q2 you buy will carry a COE, either from the original owner or a renewal. The price page's COE section says the 1.0 TFSI, with its 999cc engine, needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. If its power is more, it needs a Category B COE.

In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. Both change with every bidding round. The COE page shows the latest results.

Road tax on a 999cc engine

LTA sets road tax by engine size. For the 999cc engine, its formula gives S$390.80 a year, before any surcharge. That is among the lower road tax figures, because the engine is so small.

The surcharge applies once the car passes 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The 1.4 and 1.5 versions have bigger engines, so their road tax is higher. The road tax page lets you look up other engine sizes.

What insurance costs for the standard driver

The Audi Q2 price page prices this driver and car:

  • Car: Q2 1.0 TFSI S tronic, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years of driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

On those details, 15 insurers give a price. The lowest is S$660.69 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan costs the most asks at least S$1,359.65. That is S$698.96 more, or 106% on top of the lowest. Prices include 9% GST.

Put simply, the same Q2 and the same driver can cost about double, depending only on where the policy comes from.

Excess on the plans

Each plan comes with an excess: the first part of any claim, which you pay. Most plans on this page carry S$600. Others sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800. A few go to S$2,500 or S$3,000, and one has none at all. When two premiums look close, the excess is often what separates them.

What changes the Q2's premium

The price page also shows the lowest price when one detail changes and the rest stay put:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,341.15, which is S$680.46 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,112.75, which is S$452.06 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,241.26, which is S$580.57 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$660.69, no change
  • New car, registered this year: S$666.79, which is S$6.10 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$604.07, which is S$56.62 less

The NCD is the big lever here. Losing it raises the lowest price by 103%, the largest move of all six changes. A younger, newer driver also pays much more. The age of the car moves the price only a little.

These are the lowest prices in each case. A plan further up the list may change by a different amount.

Protecting the discount

Since the NCD swings the price so much, it is worth checking what a claim would do to yours. Ask each insurer how many steps a claim takes off, and whether an NCD protector is on offer. Then weigh that against the extra it adds.

How the Q2 compares

The price page sets the Q2 beside six cars with small engines, for the same driver and car age. Each car's lowest price:

Their average lowest price is S$641.34. The Q2 costs 3% more than that, and 3 of the six are cheaper to insure. The Ford Focus Wagon Titanium matches it exactly. For other Audi models, see the Audi car insurance page. The cheapest cars to insure list ranks a wider field.

The costs only you can price

Some costs depend so much on how you live that one figure would mislead.

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus what you pay at work and in town. Check your own car park's rate first.
  • Petrol: set by how far you drive and the pump price on the day.
  • ERP: depends on where you go and at what time.
  • Servicing and repairs: the maker's schedule, plus tyres, brakes and a battery over time. Ask what any warranty or service package still covers on a used car.
  • Depreciation: what the car loses over its remaining COE life depends on what you pay and what it fetches later.

Summary of yearly costs we can show
