Does maid insurance cover pre-existing conditions?

Usually not at first. 13 of the 14 insurers we compare exclude a helper's pre-existing conditions, and 11 of those lift the exclusion after about 12 months, counted with you or in Singapore, depending on the insurer. A medical check before the helper starts shows what is already there.

MOM requires every helper to have at least S$60,000 a year of hospital and surgical cover and S$60,000 of personal accident cover.
