Toyota Noah S in Singapore, what insurance and road tax cost

The Toyota Noah S costs to insure and tax in Singapore: 13 insurers' prices, its Category B COE and how the premium moves by driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Toyota Noah S on our quote form has a 1,998cc engine. That engine size sets its road tax and its COE category. This guide sets out what keeping one costs in Singapore: COE, road tax, insurance, and then the costs that depend on you.

Insurance figures are examples read on 20 October 2026, for one stated driver and car. Your quote depends on your own details.

The car priced

The new-car list has no entry for the Noah S on sale now. So there is no list price, power figure or body type here. The quote form has a single entry, the Noah S, with a 1,998cc engine. Every insurance figure below is for it.

COE category

The price page states that the Noah S, with its 1,998cc engine, is above 1,600cc and needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.

Each bidding round sets a new figure. The COE page keeps the latest results. On a registered car, check the COE's expiry date, since it caps how long you can use the car without paying to renew.

Road tax on 1,998cc

LTA's formula gives S$1,209.76 a year for a 1,998cc engine, before any age surcharge.

Older cars pay more. The surcharge begins after 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The surcharge is a share of the base tax, so a larger engine pays a larger surcharge in dollars. The road tax page has figures for every engine size.

Insurance for the standard driver

The Toyota Noah S price page prices this driver and car:

  • Car: Noah S, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

Here is what the page shows:

  • 13 insurers give a price
  • S$742.90 is the lowest premium
  • S$1,522.43 is the least that the insurer with the highest lowest plan asks
  • S$779.53 separates the two, which is 105% on top

All prices include 9% GST. Only three insurers on our panel have no online price for the Noah S yet.

So the same driver can pay roughly double for the same car. That spread is the reason to set several quotes side by side.

Excess

The excess is your share of each claim. Twelve of the plans on this page carry S$600. Others sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800, and one has none. With excesses this close, most of the difference between plans is in the premium and the cover.

How the price moves

The price page changes one thing at a time and shows the new lowest price:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,083.50, S$340.60 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,083.50, S$340.60 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,083.50, S$340.60 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$742.90, the same
  • A new car, registered this year: S$764.82, S$21.92 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$666.79, S$76.11 less

Losing the NCD costs the most, at 46% on the lowest price. A driver aged 27 with 30% NCD hits the same figure. The driver aged 65 pays the same as the standard driver, though one fewer insurer quotes that case.

An older Noah S is cheaper to insure at the lowest price. The 8-year-old car comes in S$76.11 under the 3-year-old one.

Pros and cons on cost

  • For: the standard driver's lowest price is below all six similar cars on the price page.
  • For: an older driver keeps the same lowest price.
  • Against: the floor jumps a long way for a driver with a small NCD or little experience.
  • Against: fewer insurers quote a brand new car or a driver aged 65 than the standard case.

Against similar cars

The price page compares the Noah S with six cars of similar engine size, for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$933.59. The Noah S comes in 20% below it, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. Other Toyota models are on the Toyota car insurance page.

Costs that depend on how you use it

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, and what you pay elsewhere.
  • Petrol: set by your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and when you drive them.
  • Servicing: the maker's schedule, plus tyres, brakes and a battery over time.
  • Depreciation: what you pay against what the car fetches later.

None of these has a figure here, because each turns on your own habits. Keep a note of them for a few months to see your own pattern.

The bottom line on figures

For the Noah S (1,998cc):

  • Road tax: S$1,209.76 a year before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$742.90 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,083.50
  • Insurance, a car 8 years old: from S$666.79

For reference, Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
