The Toyota Alphard is a large MPV with a long list of versions. Prices on the new-car list span a wide band, and the running costs are those of a 2.5-litre car. If you are thinking of one for a family, here is what the figures show.
The insurance prices are examples for a stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you see the shape of the costs. They are not a quote.

COE category
With a 2,493cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Alphard 2.5 A needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round it closed at S$130,100. The COE page has the latest result.
Road tax at this engine size
For the 2,493cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,790.38 a year, before any age surcharge. That is a large yearly sum, and it grows on an older car:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The 2,487cc hybrids and the older 3.0 and 350G sit at other engine sizes. The road tax page works out each one.
Insurance: the standard example
The Toyota Alphard price page prices this case:
- Car: Alphard 2.5 A, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
15 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$764.82 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,624.02. That is S$859.20 more, or 112% on top. Prices include 9% GST. One insurer on the panel has no online price for the Alphard yet.
Read the excess
Most plans carry a S$600 excess. Others sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800. A few reach S$2,500 or S$3,000, and one has none. A low premium with a high excess can cost you more if you claim.
Different drivers, different prices
The lowest premium when one thing changes:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,173.85, which is S$409.03 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,173.85, which is S$409.03 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,173.85, which is S$409.03 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$764.82, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$787.96, which is S$23.14 more
- Car 8 years old: S$700.28, which is S$64.54 less
For a family car, more than one person may drive. If a younger family member is named, the price can move towards the 27-year-old's figure. Losing the NCD has the same effect: 53% more at the lowest price. These are lowest prices only, and other plans may move differently.
Similar cars on the same terms
The price page compares six similar cars for the same driver and car age:
- Audi RS 3 Sedan: S$1,310.08
- Audi RS 3 Sportback: S$1,310.08
- Mitsubishi Outlander: S$861.03
- Honda Odyssey: S$811.71
- Chevrolet Captiva: S$764.82
- Chevrolet Malibu: S$764.82
Their average lowest price is S$970.42. The Alphard is 21% below that, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. The two Chevrolets match it. Other Toyotas are on the Toyota car insurance page.
Costs that vary by owner
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo. Check whether the car park suits a vehicle of this size before you buy.
- Petrol: set by your mileage and the pump price. Most versions on sale are hybrids.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
- Servicing and tyres: follow Toyota's schedule, and ask what the warranty covers.
- Depreciation: what you pay against what the car later fetches.
