20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

Thinking about a Toyota Noah MYCAR Edition? Before you pay a deposit, it helps to know the bills that come every year. This guide covers road tax, the COE category and car insurance, then the costs that depend on you.

The insurance figures are examples read on 20 October 2026 for one stated driver. They are not a quote. Your price depends on your own details.

The version priced

The new-car list has no entry for the Noah MYCAR Edition on sale now, so this guide gives no list price or power. Our quote form prices the Noah MYCAR Edition 1.8 X 7-Seater, with a 1,797cc engine. It is the version most insurers quote, and every insurance figure below is for it.

COE: Category B

The price page states that the Noah MYCAR Edition 1.8 X 7-Seater, with a 1,797cc engine, is above 1,600cc. It needs a Category B COE.

In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100. That price moves with each bidding round, and the COE page shows the latest.

If you buy a registered car, you buy its remaining COE too. Ask for the COE expiry date before you agree a price. Once it runs out, the car must have its COE renewed or come off the road.

Road tax

LTA's formula gives S$973.98 a year for a 1,797cc engine, before any age surcharge.

The surcharge only bites once a car is past 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

Check the car's registration date so you know when the first step falls. The road tax page has the figures for other engines.

Insurance for the page's driver

The Toyota Noah MYCAR Edition price page prices one set of details:

  • Car: Noah MYCAR Edition 1.8 X 7-Seater, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

That driver gets prices from 11 insurers. The lowest premium is S$900.37. The insurer whose lowest plan is highest asks at least S$1,506.70. That is S$606.33 more, or 67% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Five insurers on our panel have no online price for this model yet.

Excess

The excess is the sum you pay on each claim before the insurer pays. Ten plans here carry S$600. The rest sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800, and one plan has no excess. Since the excesses fall in a tight band, the premium is the main thing to compare.

The price for other drivers and car ages

Change one detail, keep the rest, and the lowest price moves like this:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,083.50, S$183.13 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,083.50, S$183.13 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,083.50, S$183.13 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$983.86, S$83.49 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$927.39, S$27.02 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$848.69, S$51.68 less

The NCD lines matter most. Without one, the floor rises 20%. A younger driver with a smaller NCD lands on that same figure. The driver aged 65 pays a little more than the standard driver.

What the car's age does

Car age moves the price less than the driver does. An 8-year-old car comes out S$51.68 lower at the lowest price than a 3-year-old one. A new one costs S$27.02 more. If you are choosing between a newer and an older example, the insurance gap is small next to the other costs.

Similar cars on the price page

For the same driver and car age, here are six comparable cars and their lowest prices:

Their average lowest price is S$783.18. The Noah MYCAR Edition is 15% above it. Five of the six are cheaper to insure, and only the Lexus NX costs more. More Toyota models are on the Toyota car insurance page.

Before you pay a deposit

A short list of what to check on a registered car:

  • The papers: the version name, engine size and registration date should match what the seller tells you.
  • COE expiry: how many years are left.
  • Road tax: when it was last paid, and whether the car is close to the 10-year surcharge.
  • Insurance: quote the exact version and your own details before you commit.
  • Service record: what was done, and when.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking where you live, and what you spend at work and when out.
  • Petrol: your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: your routes and the hours you use them.
  • Servicing and wear: the maker's schedule, plus tyres, brakes and a battery over the years.
  • Depreciation: what you pay now against what the car is worth later in its COE life.
