Car insurance, road tax and the COE category for the Toyota Noah 2022 1.8 SG 7-Seater in Singapore, with figures dated October 2026.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

This guide is for anyone who owns a Toyota Noah 2022, or is about to take one over, and wants the yearly bills in one place. It runs through road tax, the COE category and car insurance. Then it lists the costs that depend on how you use the car.

The insurance prices are examples read on 20 October 2026. They are for one stated driver and car, not a quote for you.

Five versions on the quote form

The new-car list has no entry for the Noah 2022 on sale now, so this piece gives no list price or power figure. Our quote form lists five versions, all with a 1,797cc engine:

  • Noah 2022 1.8 SG 7-Seater
  • Noah 2022 1.8 SZ 7-Seater
  • Noah 2022 1.8 X 7-Seater
  • Noah 2022 1.8 X Welcab Slope Type 1
  • Noah 2022 1.8 X Welcab Swivel Chair

The insurance figures are for the 1.8 SG 7-Seater, the version most of our insurers quote. Since all five share one engine size, the road tax below applies to each of them. Insurance may still differ between versions, so quote yours by its exact name.

COE

The price page states that the Noah 2022 1.8 SG 7-Seater, with its 1,797cc engine, is above 1,600cc and needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

The figure changes every bidding round. See the COE page for the latest. If you are buying a car that is already registered, find out when its COE ends. That date limits how long you can keep the car on the road without renewing.

Road tax each year

LTA's formula gives S$973.98 a year for a 1,797cc engine, before any age surcharge.

An age surcharge applies only to cars more than 10 years old. It steps up like this:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page covers every engine size.

Insurance: what the price page shows

The Toyota Noah 2022 price page prices one driver and car:

  • Car: Noah 2022 1.8 SG 7-Seater, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

Here is what that driver sees:

  • Insurers that price it: 12
  • Lowest premium: S$900.37
  • Highest of the insurers' lowest plans: S$1,506.70
  • The gap: S$606.33, or 67% more

All prices include 9% GST. Four insurers on our panel have no online price for the Noah 2022 yet.

The excess on each plan

The excess is the first part of a claim, which you pay yourself. Ten of the plans here carry S$600. Others sit at S$500, S$750 or S$800. One has no excess, and one asks S$2,500. Look at this figure before you settle on a premium.

Changing one detail at a time

The price page reworks the lowest price for other drivers and car ages, holding everything else the same:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,083.50, S$183.13 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,083.50, S$183.13 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,083.50, S$183.13 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$983.86, S$83.49 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$927.39, S$27.02 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$848.69, S$51.68 less

The first three cases give one and the same lowest price. That is 20% above the standard driver's figure. So whether a driver has no NCD, a smaller NCD or less experience, the floor rises by the same sum here. Plans above the floor may react quite differently, so look past the first line of results.

Car age matters less. A new car costs S$27.02 more to insure at the lowest price, and an 8-year-old one S$51.68 less.

Pros and cons on insurance cost

  • In its favour: the lowest price holds up well for a young driver, at the same level as a no-NCD driver.
  • Against it: the standard driver's lowest price is above that of most similar cars on the price page.

Set against six similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the price page gives these lowest prices:

Their average is S$783.18, and the Noah 2022 is 15% above it. Five of the six are cheaper to insure. The Lexus NX is the one that costs more. See the Toyota car insurance page for other Toyotas.

The costs only you can work out

  • Parking: your season parking rate at home, and what you pay elsewhere each month.
  • Petrol: your mileage times the pump price.
  • ERP: which gantries you pass and when.
  • Servicing and wear: scheduled servicing, plus tyres, brakes and a battery as the car ages. Ask for the service record if the car has had an owner before you.
  • Depreciation: the price you pay, set against what the car fetches later.
