Five of the insurers we compare have no online price yet for the Mark X ZiO, which makes its insurance worth a careful look. If you own one or are weighing one up, this piece walks through what it costs to keep: the COE, road tax and car insurance, item by item.
All insurance figures were read on 20 October 2026 for one stated driver and car. They show how the costs fit together. Your own quote will turn on your own details.
The version priced here
The new-car list has no entry for the Mark X ZiO on sale now, so there is no list price or power figure to give. Our quote form prices the Mark X ZiO 240G, with a 2,362cc engine. That is the version most of our insurers quote, and every insurance figure below is for it.
COE category
Each car in Singapore needs a Certificate of Entitlement to be on the road. The price page states that the Mark X ZiO 240G, with its 2,362cc engine, is above 1,600cc and needs a Category B COE.
Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. That figure changes with each bidding round, and the COE page carries the latest. If you take over a car that is already registered, the COE it holds has a fixed end date. The years left on it shape what the car is worth to you.
Road tax for a 2,362cc engine
Road tax follows engine size. LTA's formula gives S$1,636.72 a year for the 2,362cc engine, before any age surcharge.
Once a car is more than 10 years old, the tax climbs each year:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
If the car you are looking at is near one of these lines, the next renewal may cost more than the last. The road tax page covers other engine sizes.
What insurance costs for the page's driver
The Toyota Mark X ZiO price page prices this driver and car:
- Car: Mark X ZiO 240G, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options added
For that driver, 11 insurers give a price. The lowest premium is S$893.75. The insurer whose lowest plan is highest asks at least S$1,568.09, which is S$674.34 more, or 75% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Five insurers on our panel have no online price for this model yet. So the field is narrower than for more common cars, and a direct enquiry may be the only way to hear from those five.
Excess on these plans
The excess is the part of each claim you pay before the insurer pays the rest. On this page, most plans carry S$600. A couple sit at S$500, and the highest is S$3,000. One plan has no excess at all. Check the excess before you compare premiums, since a lower premium can carry a larger one.
How the premium shifts
The price page keeps every other detail fixed and changes one thing at a time. Here is the lowest price in each case:
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,806.16, S$912.41 more
- No NCD (0%): S$1,564.14, S$670.39 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,305.51, S$411.76 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$976.68, S$82.93 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$920.64, S$26.89 more
- A car 8 years old: S$850.70, S$43.05 less
The young driver is the costly case. At S$1,806.16, the lowest price is 102% above the standard driver's. Losing the NCD also adds a large sum. An older driver pays a little more, and fewer insurers quote that case. An 8-year-old car comes out slightly cheaper to insure than a 3-year-old one.
If a younger family member will be the main driver, price that exact case before you commit. The gap is wider here than on many cars.
Against cars of a similar size
The price page lines the Mark X ZiO up against six cars, all for the same driver and car age:
- Audi RS 3 Sedan: S$1,310.08
- Audi RS 3 Sportback: S$1,310.08
- Mitsubishi Outlander: S$861.03
- Honda Odyssey: S$811.71
- Chevrolet Captiva: S$764.82
- Chevrolet Malibu: S$764.82
Their average lowest price is S$970.42, and the Mark X ZiO sits 8% below it. Four of the six cost less to insure, though: the Outlander, the Odyssey and both Chevrolets. Only the two Audis cost more. More Toyota models are on the Toyota car insurance page.
Costs we cannot put a figure on
These depend on you more than on the car:
- Parking: season parking where you live, plus parking at work and when you are out.
- Petrol: how far you drive each month and what you pay at the pump.
- ERP: the gantries on your usual routes and the times you pass them.
- Servicing: routine work plus tyres, brakes and a battery over the years. Ask what the last owner had done.
- Depreciation: what you pay, how much COE life is left and what the car fetches later.
