The Toyota Isis L is the 1.8-litre take on the Isis people carrier. It is no longer on sale new, so if you own one or plan to, the yearly costs are what count. Here they are, item by item, with the figures we can show.
The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how the costs line up, not what you will be quoted.
The Isis L we price
The new-car list has no entry for this model on sale now, so we give no list price. Our quote form has one version:
- Isis L 1.8: 1,794cc
The figures below are for the Isis L 1.8, which most of our insurers quote.
COE
The Isis L 1.8 has a 1,794cc engine, above 1,600cc, so it needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
On a used car the COE is already paid. What you are buying is the time left on it, so check the expiry date. The COE page has the newest bidding results.
Yearly road tax
LTA works out road tax from engine size. For the 1,794cc Isis L, the formula gives S$970.46 a year, before any age surcharge.
That surcharge kicks in once a car is more than 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Since this model is no longer sold new, many cars on the market may be near or past those points. Check the registration date on any car you look at, since it sets the surcharge. The road tax page covers other engines too.
Car insurance, the worked example
The Toyota Isis L price page uses these details:
- Car: Isis L 1.8, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no options
For that case, 13 insurers price it. The lowest is S$721.59 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,339.45, which is S$617.86 more, or 86% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Three insurers on our panel have no online price for the Isis L. The rest give you a broad set of quotes to compare, with the top close to twice the bottom.
It helps to compare like with like. The price page assumes comprehensive cover, an authorised workshop and no add-ons. A quote on different terms will give a different number.
Your share of a claim
Each plan has an excess, the part of a claim you pay before the insurer pays. Here the figures run from S$500 to S$2,500, with S$600 the most common. Put each premium beside its excess. A lower premium can come with a higher excess.
When one detail changes
Keeping everything else the same, the price page shows the lowest price for each of these:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,050.84, S$329.25 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,050.84, S$329.25 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$1,050.84, S$329.25 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$721.59, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$742.90, S$21.31 more
- A car 8 years old: S$660.69, S$60.90 less
Losing the NCD has the largest effect, at 46% more on the lowest price. The 20% NCD and younger driver cases come to the same sum. A driver of 65 pays what the driver of 40 pays. An older car comes out a little lower. These are lowest prices; dearer plans may move by more or less, so check the full list on the price page.
Next to similar cars
The price page compares six cars for the same driver and car age:
- Hyundai Kona: S$721.59
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Hyundai Avante: S$622.34
- Kia Cerato: S$660.69
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
The six average S$783.18 at their lowest price. The Isis L is 8% below that. Two of them are cheaper to insure, the Avante and the Cerato, and the Kona matches it. Other Toyotas are on the Toyota car insurance page.
Costs set by how you use it
These vary from owner to owner, so we give no figure.
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, and parking wherever you go. Check your block's season rate.
- Petrol: set by distance and pump prices.
- ERP: depends on the roads you use and the time of day.
- Servicing and repairs: regular servicing, plus tyres, brakes and a battery in time. On an older car, ask for the service history.
- Depreciation: what you lose depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what the car sells for.
