The Toyota Isis is a compact people carrier that is no longer sold new here, so most owners buy one second-hand. If that is your plan, the questions are about yearly costs. This guide works through them: COE, road tax, insurance, and the costs that depend on how you use the car.
All insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you compare. They are not a quote for your own details.
Versions of the Isis
The new-car list has no entry for the Isis on sale now, so no list price appears here. Our quote form carries three versions:
- Isis: 1,998cc
- Isis 1.8 LX CNG: 1,794cc
- Isis 1.8 L X-SELECTION: 1,794cc
Most of our insurers quote the 1,998cc Isis. The figures below are for that version.
COE category
With its 1,998cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Isis needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
A used Isis carries the COE it was registered with, and that COE ends on a fixed date. The years left are part of what you are paying for. The COE page lists the latest round.
Road tax
LTA sets road tax by engine size. For the 1,998cc Isis, the formula gives S$1,209.76 a year, before any age surcharge.
Many cars of this model are now older, so the surcharge is worth checking. It starts after 10 years:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The two 1.8 versions have a smaller engine, so their road tax is lower. Look them up on the road tax page.
Insurance for the stated driver
The Toyota Isis price page prices one set of details:
- Car: Isis 1,998cc, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
On those details, 12 insurers price the car. The lowest is S$721.59 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,339.45, which is S$617.86 more, or 86% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Four insurers on our panel have no online price for the Isis. Even so, a dozen quotes give you a wide field, and the top of it costs close to twice the bottom.
When you compare, make sure each quote is for the same cover. The page assumes comprehensive cover at an authorised workshop with nothing added. Change any one of these and the price will move.
Excess
The excess is the amount of each claim you pay yourself. On this page it ranges from S$500 to S$3,000. Most plans carry S$600. A plan with a low premium and a high excess can cost more in a year you claim, so weigh the two together.
What shifts the price
The price page shows the lowest price when a single detail changes:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,050.84, S$329.25 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,050.84, S$329.25 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$1,050.84, S$329.25 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$721.59, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$742.90, S$21.31 more
- A car 8 years old: S$660.69, S$60.90 less
The largest change is losing the NCD: the lowest price rises 46%. The younger driver and the 20% NCD case land on the same figure. The 65-year-old pays the same as the driver of 40. An 8-year-old Isis is cheaper to insure than a 3-year-old one, at the lowest price. These are lowest prices only; other plans can move by different amounts.
Against similar cars
For the same driver and car age, the price page sets six cars of around two litres beside the Isis:
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz GLC: S$925.60
- BMW 3 Series: S$1,009.11
Their average lowest price is S$933.59. The Isis is 23% below it, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. Other Toyota models are on the Toyota car insurance page.
Costs that vary by owner
We give no figures for these, as they depend on you.
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and elsewhere. Check your own rate first.
- Fuel: depends on mileage and pump prices. The 1.8 LX CNG is a version built to run on natural gas, so ask about refuelling before you buy one.
- ERP: set by your routes and when you drive them.
- Servicing and repairs: tyres, brakes and a battery over time, plus regular servicing. Ask a seller for the service record.
- Depreciation: shaped by your buying price, the COE years left and the price you sell at.
