The Toyota GR Yaris 3-Door is a small car, but it does not cost like one to insure. If you are thinking of owning one in Singapore, this page sets out each cost we have figures for. Insurance gets the most space, because that is where this model stands out.
The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how the prices compare. Your own premium will depend on your details.
The version on our form
The GR Yaris 3-Door has no entry on the new-car list now, so there is no list price here. Our quote form has one version:
- GR Yaris 3-Door: 1,618cc
The figures below are for that version, the one most of our insurers quote.
The COE question
The GR Yaris 3-Door has a 1,618cc engine. That is just above 1,600cc, so it needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
Bidding results move each round. The COE page has the latest ones. On a used car, the COE is already paid; what you want to know is how many years of it are left.
Road tax
LTA bases road tax on engine size. For the 1,618cc engine, the formula gives S$764.02 a year, before any age surcharge.
The surcharge starts once a car is more than 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Road tax for other engine sizes is on the road tax page.
Insurance for the standard driver
The Toyota GR Yaris 3-Door price page prices one car and one driver:
- Car: GR Yaris 3-Door, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
Only 7 insurers price it. The lowest is S$1,123.32 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$2,109.39, which is S$986.07 more, or 88% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Nine insurers on our panel have no online price for this model yet. So the choice is narrow, and the spread within it is still wide. That is a reason to collect every quote you can.
Excess on these plans
The excess is the amount you pay yourself when you claim. Here it runs from S$0 to S$750, with S$600 on most plans. When premiums are already high, the excess is one more number to weigh. A plan with a lower excess may cost more each year but less when you claim.
What raises or lowers the premium
The price page shows the lowest price when one thing changes and everything else stays the same:
- No NCD (0%): S$2,195.99, S$1,072.67 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,757.88, S$634.56 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$2,297.36, S$1,174.04 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$1,227.57, S$104.25 more
- A new car, registered this year: S$1,157.12, S$33.80 more
- A car 8 years old: S$1,069.22, S$54.10 less
For this model the younger driver pays most of all. The lowest price for a 27-year-old with 3 years of driving is 105% more, more than double. Losing the whole NCD nearly doubles it too. Even the 65-year-old pays more than the driver of 40. An older car is a little cheaper to insure.
If you are a younger driver, these figures are worth a close look before you commit. They are lowest prices only. Other plans can move by different amounts.
Against similar cars
The price page lists six cars with similar engine sizes, for the same driver and car age:
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
- Hyundai Kona: S$721.59
- Mercedes-Benz C-Class: S$749.93
- Honda Vezel: S$824.33
Their average lowest price is S$779.56. The GR Yaris 3-Door costs 44% more than that, and all 6 of them are cheaper to insure. Engine size is close across the group, so the difference comes from how insurers rate this particular model. More Toyotas are on the Toyota car insurance page.
Costs that come down to you
These vary by owner, so we put no figure on them.
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, and parking wherever else you go. Check your own block's rate.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: set by your routes and the hours you travel.
- Servicing and repairs: the maker's schedule, plus tyres, brakes and a battery over the years. On a used car, ask for the service history.
- Depreciation: shaped by what you pay, the COE years left and the price you sell at.
