The Toyota Estima is a large people carrier that you will find mostly as a used car in Singapore. If you are pricing one up, the yearly costs are what to look at. Below, each cost is set out in turn, with the figures we can show.
The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver on 20 October 2026. They are a guide to how prices compare, not the price you will pay.
Versions on the quote form
The Estima has no entry on the new-car list now, so there is no list price to report. Our quote form lists three versions:
- Estima 2.4: 2,362cc
- Estima 3.5: 3,456cc
- Estima Hybrid 2.4 G: 2,362cc
Most insurers on our panel quote the Estima 2.4. Road tax, COE and insurance below are for that version.
Its COE category
The Estima 2.4 has a 2,362cc engine, above 1,600cc, so it needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
When you buy used, the COE is already on the car, with a fixed end date. The number of years left affects what the car is worth. The COE page gives the latest results.
Road tax on the 2.4
Road tax depends on engine capacity. For the 2,362cc Estima 2.4, LTA's formula puts it at S$1,636.72 a year, before any surcharge.
The age surcharge comes in after 10 years:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The 3.5 has a larger engine and pays more road tax. The Hybrid 2.4 G shares the 2.4's engine size. For other engines, see the road tax page.
Insurance for a typical driver
The Toyota Estima price page prices this car and driver:
- Car: Estima 2.4, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no options
15 insurers price it. Only one insurer on our panel has no online price for this model. The lowest is S$764.82 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,595.22: S$830.40 more, or 109% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
So the dearest insurer's lowest plan costs more than twice the lowest price on the page. With this many insurers in the field, the gap is worth knowing about. It also means the same answers on the quote form can lead to very different bills.
Excess
Each plan states an excess, the amount you pay towards any claim. Here it runs from S$0 up to S$3,000, and S$600 is the figure on most plans. When you compare, put each premium next to its excess. A lower premium with a much higher excess may not leave you better off.
What changes the lowest price
The price page keeps everything else the same and changes one detail:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,093.23, S$328.41 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,093.23, S$328.41 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years of driving, 30% NCD: S$1,093.23, S$328.41 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years of driving: S$764.82, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$787.96, S$23.14 more
- A car 8 years old: S$700.28, S$64.54 less
Without an NCD, the lowest price is 43% more. That is the costliest change here. The young driver with a 30% NCD gets the same figure. For the 65-year-old, nothing changes. An 8-year-old Estima costs less. Note that these are lowest prices; other plans may move by more or less.
Next to similar cars
The price page compares six cars with engines of a similar size, for the same driver and car age:
- Honda Odyssey: S$811.71
- Mitsubishi Outlander: S$861.03
- Audi RS 3 Sedan: S$1,310.08
- Audi RS 3 Sportback: S$1,310.08
- Chevrolet Captiva: S$764.82
- Chevrolet Malibu: S$764.82
The six average S$970.42 at their lowest price. The Estima is 21% below that. None of them is cheaper to insure, though the two Chevrolets match it. Other Toyotas are on the Toyota car insurance page.
Owner-dependent costs
These costs change too much from one owner to the next for a single figure.
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and on outings. Check whether your car park has height limits that suit a large MPV.
- Petrol: depends on mileage and pump prices. The Hybrid 2.4 G adds an electric motor to its petrol engine.
- ERP: set by your routes and the time you travel.
- Servicing and repairs: on an older model, ask for service records. Tyres, brakes and a battery wear out over the years.
- Depreciation: how much value you lose depends on what you pay, the COE years left and the sale price later.
The yearly figures we can show
For the Estima 2.4, dated as shown:

- Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,093.23

For a new COE, Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
