Toyota Corolla Sedan 1.8 costs in Singapore

What a Toyota Corolla Sedan costs in Singapore: the listed hybrid price, Category B COE, road tax and dated insurance prices for one driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Toyota Corolla Sedan comes with a 1.8-litre engine in every version we price. This page is for anyone deciding whether to buy or insure one. It sets out the list price, the COE, road tax and car insurance.

The insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how the costs compare, not what you will be asked to pay.

Versions and what is on sale

Our quote form lists three versions, all with a 1,797cc engine:

  • Corolla Sedan 1.8 Ascent Sport
  • Corolla Sedan 1.8 S
  • Corolla Sedan 1.8 X

The insurance figures here are for the 1.8 Ascent Sport, which most of our insurers quote.

The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has one version on sale: the Corolla Sedan Hybrid 1.8 X, petrol-electric, 1,797cc, 120bhp. The list gives the body type as sedan, made in Japan.

The list price

As listed on 2026-10-10, the Corolla Sedan Hybrid 1.8 X was S$229,800, with COE included in the list price that day.

That figure moves with each COE round, so a dealer's price today may differ. If you compare offers, check what each includes.

COE

With a 1,797cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Corolla Sedan 1.8 Ascent Sport needs a Category B COE. Category B closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.

Each bidding round sets a new figure. The COE page has the latest results. On a used car, the years left on the COE tell you how long it can stay on the road.

Road tax

For the 1,797cc engine, LTA's formula gives road tax of S$973.98 a year, before any age surcharge. This was checked on 2026-10-19.

The surcharge begins once a car passes 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page covers other engine sizes.

Insurance for the example driver

The Toyota Corolla Sedan price page prices one case:

  • Car: Corolla Sedan 1.8 Ascent Sport, registered 3 years ago, private use
  • Cover: comprehensive, repairs at an authorised workshop, no add-ons
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years' driving
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims

12 insurers price this case. The lowest premium is S$764.42 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,525.40, which is S$760.98 more, or 100% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

Put plainly, the dearest insurer's lowest plan is double the lowest premium. Four insurers on our panel have no online price for this model yet, so fewer names appear than for some cars.

What you pay on a claim

Each plan has an excess, the amount you pay before the insurer covers the rest. Most here carry S$600. Others carry S$500, S$750 or S$800, one carries S$2,500, and one has none.

Set the premium and the excess side by side. A lower premium can come with a higher bill when you claim.

Prices marked as estimates are worth checking on the insurer's own quote. Each price also shows the date its table was read.

How the price changes

The page shows the lowest price when one detail is changed:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,017.12, S$252.70 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,017.12, S$252.70 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,017.12, S$252.70 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$864.88, S$100.46 more
  • A new car, registered this year: S$855.38, S$90.96 more
  • A car 8 years old: S$755.54, S$8.88 less

Losing the NCD costs the most, at 33% more on the lowest price. Unlike many cars, the Corolla Sedan's lowest price also rises for an older driver. A brand-new car adds S$90.96, while an 8-year-old one barely changes the figure.

These are lowest prices only. Other plans may move by different amounts.

Compared with similar cars

For the same driver and car age, the page lists six similar cars:

The six average S$783.18. The Corolla Sedan is 2% below that, close to the middle. Three of them, the Kona, the Avante and the Cerato, are cheaper to insure for this driver. The Toyota car insurance page lists other Toyotas.

Costs that depend on you

  • Parking: season parking where you live, plus work, mall and street parking. Check your own car park's rate.
  • Petrol: depends on your distance and the pump price. The hybrid on the new-car list also uses an electric motor.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the time of day.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what the warranty and any service package include.
  • Depreciation: comes down to what you pay and what the car fetches later, over its COE life.

Summary of the figures

For the Corolla Sedan 1.8 Ascent Sport, dated as shown:

  • Road tax: S$973.98 a year before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, standard driver: from S$764.42 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,017.12
  • Insurance, a car 8 years old: from S$755.54

One-off, for reference: the Hybrid 1.8 X listed at S$229,800 on 2026-10-10, and a Category B COE of S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round.
