The Toyota Corolla Cross is a petrol-electric SUV that is on sale new in Singapore. If it is on your list, this page goes through what you pay to buy and keep it: the list price, COE, road tax and car insurance.
Every insurance price below is an example for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. Your own price depends on your details, so use these to see how the costs fit together.
The versions
The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 gives the Corolla Cross as an SUV made in Japan, in two versions:
- Corolla Cross Hybrid 1.8 G: petrol-electric, 1,797cc, 138bhp
- Corolla Cross Hybrid 2.0 Premium: petrol-electric, 1,987cc, 196bhp
Our quote form lists the same two engines, as the Corolla Cross Hybrid (1,987cc) and the Corolla Cross Hybrid 1.8 G (A) (1,797cc). The insurance figures in this review are for the 1,987cc Corolla Cross Hybrid, the version most of our insurers quote.
What it costs to buy
As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included in the list price that day:
- Corolla Cross Hybrid 1.8 G: S$200,900
- Corolla Cross Hybrid 2.0 Premium: S$225,888
List prices shift with every COE round. The figure you see today may not be the same, so check what each offer includes before comparing totals.
The COE
With a 1,987cc engine, above 1,600cc, the Corolla Cross Hybrid needs a Category B COE. In the October 2026 1st round, Category B closed at S$130,100.
The COE result changes every bidding round. The COE page shows the latest.
Road tax
For the 1,987cc engine, LTA's formula gives road tax of S$1,196.86 a year, before any age surcharge. It was checked on 2026-10-19.
Once a car is more than 10 years old, the surcharge applies:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The 1.8 G has a smaller engine, so its road tax is lower. You can look it up on the road tax page.
Insuring the Corolla Cross
The Toyota Corolla Cross price page prices one example:
- Car: Corolla Cross Hybrid (1,987cc), registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: at an authorised workshop, no add-ons
13 insurers give a price. The lowest is S$793.75 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,522.43. That is S$728.68 more, or 92% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
So the dearest insurer's lowest plan comes close to double the lowest premium. Comparing is how you find which end of that range you fall in.
Watch the excess
The excess is the amount you pay towards a claim. Most plans here carry S$600. Others carry S$500, S$750 or S$800, and one carries none. A few go up to S$2,500 or S$3,000.
A premium only tells half the story. If you claim, the excess is the other half.
Some prices on the page are marked as estimates. Each price also has an "as at" date, which is when the insurer's price table was read.
How the premium moves
The page shows the lowest price when one detail differs from the example:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,130.43, which is S$336.68 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,130.43, which is S$336.68 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,130.43, which is S$336.68 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$793.75, the same
- A new car, registered this year: S$817.19, which is S$23.44 more
- A car 8 years old: S$726.77, which is S$66.98 less
Without an NCD, the lowest price is 42% higher, the largest change on the list. NCD builds with claim-free years. A brand-new Corolla Cross costs a little more to insure than a 3-year-old one at the lowest price.
These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans may change by different amounts.
Alongside similar cars
The page compares six similar cars, for the same driver and car age:
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: S$861.03
- BMW 5 Series: S$861.03
- Lexus NX: S$972.39
- Lexus RX: S$972.39
- Mercedes-Benz GLC: S$925.60
- BMW 3 Series: S$1,009.11
Their average lowest price is S$933.59. The Corolla Cross is 15% below it, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. Other Toyotas are on the Toyota car insurance page.
Costs that vary by owner
- Parking: season parking where you live, and charges at work, malls and on the street.
- Fuel: the Corolla Cross uses petrol and an electric motor. What you spend depends on your distance and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and times.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what the warranty covers, including the hybrid parts, and what any service package includes.
- Depreciation: what the car loses over its COE life depends on what you pay and what it is worth later.
