The Corolla name has been on Singapore roads for decades, so there are many to choose from, new and used. This page takes you through what a Corolla costs: the price to buy, the COE, road tax and car insurance.
The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They show how prices compare, not what you will be offered.
Corollas on our form and on sale
Our quote form carries six older Corolla versions:
- Corolla 1.3: 1,329cc
- Corolla 1.4 VVT-i: 1,398cc
- Corolla 1.5: 1,496cc
- Corolla 1.6: 1,598cc
- Corolla 1.8: 1,798cc
- Corolla 2.0: 1,987cc
The insurance and road tax figures in this review are for the Corolla 1.3, the version most of our insurers quote.
The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has one Corolla on sale new. The list gives the body type as sedan, made in Japan:
- Corolla Sedan Hybrid 1.8 X: petrol-electric, 1,797cc, 120bhp
That is a different engine from the 1.3 priced below, so its road tax and insurance would differ too.
The list price for the new one
As listed on 2026-10-10, the Corolla Sedan Hybrid 1.8 X was S$229,800, with COE included in the list price that day.
That figure moves with COE results, so a dealer's figure today may not match. When you compare offers, check what each includes.
The COE on the 1.3
The COE rule here is for the Corolla 1.3 the price page quotes. With a 1,329cc engine, it needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.
Category A closed at S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round, and Category B at S$130,100. See the COE page for each new round. On a used Corolla, check the years left on its COE.
Road tax
LTA's formula gives the 1,329cc Corolla 1.3 a road tax of S$583.96 a year, before any age surcharge. This was checked on 2026-10-19.
The surcharge applies once a car is over 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
Larger Corolla engines pay more. You can look up each size on the road tax page.
Insurance for one standard driver
The Toyota Corolla price page prices this case:
- Car: Corolla 1.3, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, 10 to 19 years' driving
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
15 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$586.41 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,525.40. That is S$938.99 more, or 160% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
That is one of the wider gaps you will see. The dearest insurer's lowest plan costs well over twice the lowest premium, for the same driver and car.
Read the excess as well
The excess is what you pay towards a claim. Most plans here carry S$600. Others carry S$500, S$750 or S$800, and one carries S$0. Some go to S$2,500 or S$3,000. Set each premium beside its excess before you decide which is lower overall.
What shifts the price
The lowest price, with one detail changed:
- No NCD (0%): S$976.44, S$390.03 more
- 20% NCD: S$976.44, S$390.03 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$976.44, S$390.03 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$586.41, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$604.07, S$17.66 more
- Car 8 years old: S$545.00, S$41.41 less
The NCD is the largest factor: without it, the lowest price is 67% higher. Car age changes it only a little. These are lowest prices only, and dearer plans may react differently.

For the same driver and car age, the page lists six similar cars and their lowest prices:
- Mazda 3: S$927.36

- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
- Mercedes-Benz C-Class: S$749.93

- ERP: depends on your routes and times.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Ask what any warranty or service package covers.
