The Toyota Camry is a large sedan, and on the new-car list it sits under the luxury body type. Here it is set side by side with the similar cars on its price page, on the costs we can show. That means insurance first, then the Camry's own list price, COE and road tax.
Insurance prices are examples for one stated driver, read on 20 October 2026. They help you compare cars, not predict your own quote.
The Camry first
The new-car list read on 2026-10-10 has one version on sale, made in Japan:
- Camry Hybrid 2.5 Elegance: petrol-electric, 2,487cc, 228bhp, listed at S$262,888 as listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included that day
The quote form also lists older Camrys, from a 2.0 at 1,998cc to a 2.5 at 2,494cc. The insurance figures here are for the Camry Hybrid 2.5 Ascent (2,487cc), the version most insurers quote.
COE. With a 2,487cc engine, above 1,600cc, it needs a Category B COE. That closed at S$130,100 in the October 2026 1st round. The COE page has later rounds.
Road tax. For the 2,487cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$1,783.36 a year, before any age surcharge. Over 10 years old, a surcharge applies: +10% over 10 years, +20% over 11, +30% over 12, +40% over 13 and +50% over 14. The road tax page works out other engine sizes.
Insurance. The Toyota Camry price page prices a driver aged 40, married, in an office job, driving 10 to 19 years. The car is 3 years old, private use, comprehensive cover, with a 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims and an authorised workshop. 15 insurers price it. The lowest premium is S$841.31 a year. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,624.02, which is S$782.71 more, or 93% on top. Prices include 9% GST.
Most plans carry a S$600 excess. The range runs from S$0 to S$3,000.
The comparisons below use the same driver and car age, each car at the version most insurers quote.
Honda Odyssey
The Honda Odyssey has a 2,354cc engine. Its lowest price is S$811.71, from 15 insurers.
That is a little below the Camry's lowest price. On insurance alone, the two are close. It is priced by as many insurers as the Camry.
Mitsubishi Outlander
The Mitsubishi Outlander has a 2,360cc engine. Its lowest price is S$861.03, from 15 insurers.
So it sits a little above the Camry. As many insurers price it, so the choice of plans is about as wide.
Audi RS 3 Sedan
The Audi RS 3 Sedan has a 2,480cc engine. Its lowest price is S$1,310.08, and only 3 insurers price it.
That is the highest lowest price of the group. Few insurers price it online, which limits how much you can shop around.
Audi RS 3 Sportback
The Audi RS 3 Sportback also has a 2,480cc engine. Its lowest price is also S$1,310.08, from 4 insurers.
Like the sedan, it costs far more to insure than the Camry at the lowest price, with a thin field of insurers.
Chevrolet Captiva
The Chevrolet Captiva has a 2,384cc engine. Its lowest price is S$764.82, from 15 insurers.
It ties for the lowest figure among the six.
Chevrolet Malibu
The Chevrolet Malibu has a 2,400cc engine. Its lowest price is also S$764.82, from 14 insurers.
Its engine is close in size to the Camry's. It costs less to insure at the lowest price.

Who each suits on cost
- Camry: suits you if you want a large sedan priced near the middle of this group on insurance. Its 2,487cc engine brings high road tax.
- Captiva and Malibu: the lowest insurance figures here, with a wide field of insurers.
- Odyssey: a shade lower than the Camry on insurance, with as many insurers.
- Outlander: close to the Camry, slightly above it.
- RS 3 Sedan and Sportback: the dearest to insure of the group, and few insurers to compare.
For every car, parking, petrol, ERP, servicing and depreciation depend on how you use it. Other Toyotas are on the Toyota car insurance page.
