This page costs out the Suzuki Vitara in Singapore, item by item. It is for anyone weighing one up on the used market or checking what they already pay. It covers the COE, road tax and insurance, then the costs that depend on you.
The insurance figures come from our price page on 20 October 2026. They are examples for one stated driver. Your own premium will reflect your own answers.
Versions on our form
The new-car list has no Vitara on sale now, so there is no list price to give. Our quote form carries three versions:
- Vitara 1.4: 1,373cc
- Vitara 1.6 GLX: 1,586cc
- Vitara V6 LX: 1,247cc
The figures below are for the 1.4, the version most of our insurers quote. The other two have different engine sizes, so their road tax differs.
Which COE
For the Vitara 1.4, with its 1,373cc engine, the price page says the category depends on power. It needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.
The October 2026 1st round closed at S$130,001 for Category A and S$130,100 for Category B. Results move every round. The COE page has the latest. For a used car, what matters is the time left on the COE.
Road tax
Road tax is set by engine capacity. For the 1.4's 1,373cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$609.76 a year, before any age surcharge. The formula was checked on 2026-10-19.
The surcharge starts once a car passes 10 years:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page has the figures for the 1.6 GLX and other sizes.
Insurance for the example driver
The Suzuki Vitara price page prices this driver and car:
- Car: Vitara 1.4, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
15 insurers price the Vitara online. Only one on our panel has no online price for it yet.
The lowest premium is S$660.69. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,243.34. That is S$582.65 more, or 88% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
Close to double, then, for the same car and the same driver. A wide field of insurers gives you plenty to compare.
The excess
The excess is what you pay yourself when you claim. On this page S$600 is the most common figure. The range runs from S$0 to S$3,000, with plans at S$500, S$750, S$800 and S$2,500 as well. A low premium may come with a high excess. Check both before you choose.
How the price shifts
The price page shows the lowest price when one detail changes and the rest holds:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,017.12, S$356.43 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,017.12, S$356.43 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,017.12, S$356.43 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$660.69, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$666.79, S$6.10 more
- Car 8 years old: S$604.07, S$56.62 less
Losing your NCD is the costliest change. It adds 54% to the lowest price. A 20% NCD does no better, and a younger driver lands at the same figure.
A new Vitara costs only S$6.10 more than the 3-year-old example. One 8 years old costs S$56.62 less. These are lowest prices only. Dearer plans can move by different amounts.
Compared with similar cars
The price page sets the Vitara beside six cars of about the same engine size. Each is priced for the same driver and car age:
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
- Mercedes-Benz C-Class: S$749.93
Their average lowest price is S$753.91. The Vitara costs 12% less than that. Two of the six are cheaper to insure: the Toyota Sienta and the Honda Freed. The Mazda 3 sits at the top of the group, and the two Mercedes-Benz models and the BMW X1 fall in between. Each link opens that car's own price page for the same driver.
Other Suzuki models are on the Suzuki car insurance page.
Costs that come down to you
These vary too much between owners to carry one figure.
- Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work, malls and on the street.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and pump prices.
- ERP: depends on your routes and when you travel.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Tyres, brakes and a battery come due over the years. With a used car, ask what work has been done.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left and what the car fetches later.
