The cost of owning a Suzuki Jimny 5-Door in Singapore

List price as listed, COE, road tax and car insurance for the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door in Singapore, with dated examples for one driver.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Jimny 5-Door is the five-door version of a familiar name. If it is on your list, the figures on this page show what it costs before you drive it home: the price as listed, the COE, road tax and insurance. Costs that depend on how you use it come last.

Insurance prices here are examples from our price page on 20 October 2026, for one stated driver. They will not match your own quote exactly. They do show the range and what moves it.

Versions

The new-car list, read on 2026-10-10, has one Jimny 5-Door on sale. It is an SUV made in India:

  • Jimny 5-Door 1.5 Standard: petrol, 1,462cc, 101bhp

Our quote form carries two trims, both with the 1,462cc engine:

  • 1.5 Standard
  • 1.5 Standard Two-Tone

The insurance figures are for the 1.5 Standard, the version most of our insurers quote.

Price as listed

As listed on 2026-10-10, the Jimny 5-Door 1.5 Standard was S$217,888. That price included the COE as listed that day.

Because the COE moves each round, so does the list price. A figure given to you now may differ. When comparing offers, check what each one includes before you look at the total.

COE

The 5-Door's 1,462cc engine puts the COE category on a power test. The price page says it needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.

The October 2026 1st round closed at S$130,001 for Category A and S$130,100 for Category B. The COE page has the results of later rounds.

Road tax

Engine size sets road tax. For 1,462cc, LTA's formula gives S$661.96 a year, before any age surcharge. It was checked on 2026-10-19.

The surcharge only bites after 10 years:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

A new car has a long way to go before that. The road tax page has other engine sizes.

Insuring it: the example case

The Suzuki Jimny 5-Door price page prices one driver and car:

  • Car: Jimny 5-Door 1.5 Standard, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

For that driver, 11 insurers give an online price. Five on our panel have none for this model yet.

The lowest premium is S$823.96. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,320.55, a gap of S$496.59, or 60% more. Every price includes 9% GST.

In other words, the same cover can cost several hundred dollars more depending on where you buy it.

Excess

When you claim, you pay the excess first. On this page the excesses stay within S$0 to S$800. S$600 is the figure you will see most. A few plans sit at S$500 or S$750. A higher excess can sit beside a lower premium, so check both.

Where the price shifts

The price page lists the lowest price after one change, with all else kept:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,055.75, S$231.79 more
  • 20% NCD: S$1,055.75, S$231.79 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,055.75, S$231.79 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$900.36, S$76.40 more
  • New car, registered this year: S$848.67, S$24.71 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$776.66, S$47.30 less

NCD is the biggest single factor. Dropping to 0% adds 28% to the lowest price. Three quite different drivers end up on the same S$1,055.75.

If you buy new, expect the first-year figure for this driver to sit a little above the 3-year-old example. These are lowest prices only. Other plans may rise or fall by different amounts.

Compared with similar cars

The price page sets the Jimny 5-Door against six cars with engines of a similar size, each for the same driver and car age:

The six average S$735.99. The Jimny 5-Door is 12% above that. Five of the six cost less to insure for this driver; the Mazda 3 is the one that costs more.

More Suzuki models are on the Suzuki car insurance page.

The costs you shape yourself

These depend on your habits and your address, so there is no single figure.

  • Parking: season parking where you live, plus what you pay at work and when out.
  • Petrol: set by your mileage and the pump price.
  • ERP: set by your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Tyres, brakes and a battery come due over the years. Check what the warranty covers.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay and what the car is worth when you sell.

Figures in brief

For the Jimny 5-Door 1.5 Standard, dated as shown:

  • Road tax: S$661.96 a year, before any age surcharge (LTA's formula, checked 2026-10-19)
  • Insurance, example driver: from S$823.96 a year (20 October 2026)
  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$1,055.75
  • Insurance, car 8 years old: from S$776.66

And the one-off costs: a list price of S$217,888 as listed on 2026-10-10, and a COE of S$130,001 (Category A) or S$130,100 (Category B) in the October 2026 1st round.
