Suzuki APV in Singapore and the cost of keeping one insured

Costs for the Suzuki APV 1.6 seven-seater in Singapore: COE rules, road tax and car insurance examples for one driver, dated October 2026.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Suzuki APV on our quote form is a 7-seater with a 1.6 engine. Whether you are looking at one on the used market or already own one, this page sets out the costs that come with a figure.

Each insurance price here is an example for one stated driver, taken from our price page on 20 October 2026. Your own premium depends on your answers. Use these figures to compare, not as a quote.

What is on our quote form

The new-car list has no entry for the APV on sale now, so there is no list price to report. Our quote form prices one version:

  • APV 1.6 GLX 7-seater: 1,590cc

The figures below are for that car.

The COE question

For a car with the APV's 1,590cc engine, the COE category turns on power. The price page puts it this way. It needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.

In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. Both move with each round. The COE page shows the latest. For a used APV, what counts is how many COE years are left.

Road tax

Road tax depends on engine capacity. For 1,590cc, LTA's formula gives S$737.04 a year, before any age surcharge. The formula was checked on 2026-10-19.

The surcharge applies once a car is more than 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

The road tax page has figures for other engine sizes.

Insurance for the example driver

The Suzuki APV price page uses one set of details:

  • Car: APV 1.6 GLX 7-seater, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons

A wide field prices this car: 15 insurers, with only one on our panel lacking an online price. The lowest premium is S$622.34. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,320.55, which is S$698.21 more, or 112% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

So the dearest insurer's lowest plan costs more than double the lowest premium. With this many insurers in play, the spread is wide and worth seeing for yourself.

Excess and premium together

The excess is the part of each claim you pay. On this page S$600 is the most common figure. Excesses run from S$0 up to S$3,000, with several at S$500, S$750, S$800 and S$2,500 in between. A low premium paired with a high excess may not work out cheaper once you claim. Look at both numbers. If you claim rarely, the premium may weigh more for you. If you claim more often, the excess adds up faster.

Changes that move the price

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail differs and the rest holds:

  • No NCD (0%): S$948.39, S$326.05 more
  • 20% NCD: S$948.39, S$326.05 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$948.39, S$326.05 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$622.34, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$642.42, S$20.08 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$569.36, S$52.98 less

The NCD matters a great deal for the APV. Without it, the lowest price rises by 52%. A younger, less experienced driver lands on the same higher figure. An older driver with long experience pays the same as the example driver.

A newer APV costs a little more to insure. One 8 years old costs a little less. These are lowest prices only, and dearer plans can move by other amounts.

Next to similar cars

The price page compares the APV with six cars of about the same engine size. Each is priced for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$724.93. The APV comes in 14% below that. Only one of the six, the Toyota Sienta, is cheaper to insure for this driver.

More Suzuki models are on the Suzuki car insurance page.

The costs only you can size

Some costs depend so much on how you use the car that no single figure fits.

  • Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus what you pay elsewhere. Check your own block's rate.
  • Petrol: depends on your mileage and the pump price on the day.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Tyres, brakes and the battery come due over time. With a used car, ask for its service history.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay, the COE years left, and what the car fetches later.

Yearly figures at a glance

  • Insurance, no NCD: from S$948.39
