Suzuki Jimny ownership costs in Singapore, with insurance prices

Suzuki Jimny costs in Singapore: list prices as listed, COE category, road tax and car insurance examples for one driver, dated October 2026.

20 Oct 2026 · 5 min read

The Suzuki Jimny is listed as an SUV, and it has a long run of versions. If you are costing one up in Singapore, this page puts figures on what can be pinned down. That means the list price, the COE, road tax and car insurance. The costs that depend on you come after.

Insurance figures here come from our price page on 20 October 2026. They are examples for one stated driver, not a quote. Your own premium will depend on your details.

The versions

The new-car list, read on 2026-10-10, shows two Jimny versions on sale. Both are SUVs made in Japan:

  • Jimny 3-Door 1.5 Standard: petrol, 1,462cc, 101bhp
  • Jimny 5-Door 1.5 Standard: petrol, 1,462cc, 101bhp

Our quote form also carries older versions for cars already on the road:

  • Jimny: 1,328cc
  • Jimny 1.5 DDiS: 1,461cc
  • Jimny XC 660: 658cc
  • Jimny XG 660: 658cc

The insurance and road tax figures below are for the Jimny with the 1,328cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote. The current 1.5 versions have a larger engine, so their road tax differs.

What it costs to buy new

As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included in the list price that day:

  • Jimny 3-Door 1.5 Standard: S$186,888
  • Jimny 5-Door 1.5 Standard: S$217,888

List prices move with each COE round. A price quoted to you today may not match. When you compare offers, check what each one includes.

COE category

For the Jimny priced on our page, with its 1,328cc engine, the category depends on power. It needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less. It needs a Category B COE if its power is more.

Category A closed at S$130,001 in the October 2026 1st round, and Category B at S$130,100. Both shift every bidding round. The COE page has the latest results.

Road tax

Road tax is set by engine capacity. For the 1,328cc Jimny, LTA's formula gives S$583.38 a year, before any age surcharge. The formula was checked on 2026-10-19.

The surcharge applies once a car is over 10 years old:

  • Over 10 years: +10%
  • Over 11 years: +20%
  • Over 12 years: +30%
  • Over 13 years: +40%
  • Over 14 years: +50%

For the 1.5 versions or the 660s, look up the engine size on the road tax page.

Car insurance for the example driver

The Suzuki Jimny price page prices one driver and car:

  • Car: Jimny (1,328cc), registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
  • Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
  • Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
  • Repairs: authorised workshop, no options

15 insurers price it online, with only one on our panel lacking a price. The lowest premium is S$586.41. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,320.55. That is S$734.14 more, or 125% on top. All prices include 9% GST.

So the dearest insurer's lowest plan costs more than twice the lowest premium. It is a wide gap for one car and one driver.

Excess

The excess is the share of a claim you pay. On this page S$600 is the most common figure. Excesses run from S$0 up to S$3,000, with plans at S$500, S$750, S$800 and S$2,500 in between. Look at the excess and the premium together.

Changes that move the price

The price page shows the lowest price when one detail is changed and the rest kept:

  • No NCD (0%): S$1,031.46, S$445.05 more
  • 20% NCD: S$987.63, S$401.22 more
  • Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,031.46, S$445.05 more
  • Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$586.41, the same
  • New car, registered this year: S$604.07, S$17.66 more
  • Car 8 years old: S$545.00, S$41.41 less

The NCD carries a lot of weight for the Jimny. Without it, the lowest price is 76% higher. Even a 20% NCD leaves you paying hundreds more than at 50%. A younger driver with less experience pays the same as one with no NCD.

The car's age matters far less. A new car costs a little more, and one 8 years old a little less. These are lowest prices only, and dearer plans may move by different amounts.

Against similar cars

The price page sets the Jimny beside six cars with engines of a similar size. Each is priced for the same driver and car age:

Their average lowest price is S$753.91. The Jimny costs 22% less than that, and none of the six is cheaper to insure. The Toyota Sienta comes closest.

Other Suzuki models are on the Suzuki car insurance page.

Costs that vary with the owner

These depend on you, so there is no one figure.

  • Parking: season parking at your HDB block or condo, plus parking at work and when you go out.
  • Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
  • ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
  • Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Tyres, brakes and a battery fall due over the years. Ask what the warranty covers on a new car.
  • Depreciation: depends on what you pay and what the car fetches when you sell it.

Summary of the figures
