This page is for anyone weighing up the three-door Suzuki Jimny in Singapore. It works through the fixed costs one by one: the price as listed, the COE, road tax and car insurance. Then it turns to the costs you control.
The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, taken from our price page on 20 October 2026. Your own price will depend on your answers, so read them as a guide.
The 3-Door line-up
The new-car list, read on 2026-10-10, has one Jimny 3-Door on sale. It is an SUV made in Japan:
- Jimny 3-Door 1.5 Standard: petrol, 1,462cc, 101bhp
Our quote form carries four trims, all with the same 1,462cc engine:
- 1.5 Premium
- 1.5 Premium Two-Tone
- 1.5 Standard
- 1.5 Standard Two-Tone
The insurance figures below are for the 1.5 Premium, the version most of our insurers quote.
List price
As listed on 2026-10-10, the Jimny 3-Door 1.5 Standard was S$186,888, with COE included in the list price that day.
That figure moves with the COE. A dealer's price today may be different. If you compare offers, check what each includes, such as registration and any extras, before you compare totals.
COE
For the 1.5 Premium, with its 1,462cc engine, the price page says the category depends on power. It needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.
In the October 2026 1st round, Category A closed at S$130,001 and Category B at S$130,100. Each round brings new results. The COE page has the latest.
Road tax
Road tax depends on engine size. For the 1,462cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$661.96 a year, before any age surcharge. It was checked on 2026-10-19.
Cars over 10 years old pay a surcharge:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The road tax page covers other engine sizes.
Insurance for the example driver
The Suzuki Jimny 3-Door price page prices this case:
- Car: Jimny 3-Door 1.5 Premium, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
11 insurers price it online for that driver. A handful of others on our panel have no online price for this model yet.
The lowest premium is S$823.96. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,320.55. That is S$496.59 more, or 60% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
A 60% gap on the same car is worth knowing about before you renew or buy.
A narrow range of excesses
The excess is what you pay yourself on each claim. For this car the excesses are fairly close together. They run from S$0 to S$800, with S$600 the most common figure. Plans at S$500 and S$750 sit in between. Even so, a gap of a few hundred dollars is worth weighing next to the premium.
What moves the premium
The price page shows the lowest price when one thing changes, all else the same:
- No NCD (0%): S$1,055.75, S$231.79 more
- 20% NCD: S$1,055.75, S$231.79 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$1,055.75, S$231.79 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$900.36, S$76.40 more
- New car, registered this year: S$848.67, S$24.71 more
- Car 8 years old: S$776.66, S$47.30 less
Losing your NCD costs the most, at 28% on the lowest price. A 20% NCD and a younger driver both land at that same figure. An older driver also pays a little more.
A new Jimny 3-Door costs a little more to insure than the 3-year-old example. That matters if you are buying new. These are lowest prices only, and other plans can move by more or less.
Set beside similar cars
The price page compares the Jimny 3-Door with six cars with engines of a similar size. Each is priced for the same driver and car age:
- Toyota Corolla Altis: S$642.42
- Mazda 3: S$927.36
- Toyota Sienta: S$604.07
- BMW X1: S$811.71
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Honda Freed: S$642.42
Their average lowest price is S$735.99. The Jimny 3-Door costs 12% more than that. Five of the six are cheaper to insure. Only the Mazda 3 costs more.
Other Suzuki models are on the Suzuki car insurance page.
Costs that depend on how you use it
No single figure fits these, because they depend on you.
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus parking at work, malls and on the street.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price.
- ERP: depends on your routes and when you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Tyres, brakes and a battery come up over the years. Ask what the warranty and any service package cover.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay and what the car fetches later.
