Our quote form lists many Suzuki Swift versions, from a 998cc engine up to 1.6 SPRT models. This page is for anyone pricing one up, new or used. It covers the list price, COE, road tax and car insurance, then the costs that depend on you.
The insurance figures are examples for one stated driver, read from our price page on 20 October 2026. They are not your quote. Read them for the range and for what moves it.
The versions
The new-car list, read on 2026-10-10, has two Swift versions on sale. Both are hatchbacks made in Japan:
- Swift Mild Hybrid 1.2 RS: petrol-electric, 1,242cc, 90bhp
- Swift Mild Hybrid 1.2 Standard: petrol-electric, 1,197cc, 80bhp
Our quote form carries a long list for cars already on the road, including:
- Swift 1.0: 998cc
- Swift 1.2: 1,242cc
- Swift 1.3: 1,328cc
- Swift 1.4: 1,400cc
- Swift 1.5: 1,489cc
- Swift 1.6 SPRT: 1,585cc
- Swift SPRT: 1,586cc
The insurance and road tax figures below are for the Swift 1.2 with the 1,242cc engine. It is the version most of our insurers quote.
List price
As listed on 2026-10-10, with COE included in the list price that day:
- Mild Hybrid 1.2 RS: S$160,000
- Mild Hybrid 1.2 Standard: S$169,888
List prices follow the COE, so they change from round to round. A price given to you now may not match. When you compare offers, check what each one includes.
COE
For the Swift 1.2, with its 1,242cc engine, the price page says the category depends on power. It needs a Category A COE if its power is 97kW (130bhp) or less, and a Category B COE if it is more.
The October 2026 1st round closed at S$130,001 for Category A and S$130,100 for Category B. Results change every round. The COE page has the latest.
Road tax
Road tax is based on engine size. For the 1,242cc engine, LTA's formula gives S$532.94 a year, before any age surcharge. The formula was checked on 2026-10-19.
The surcharge starts once a car is more than 10 years old:
- Over 10 years: +10%
- Over 11 years: +20%
- Over 12 years: +30%
- Over 13 years: +40%
- Over 14 years: +50%
The 1,197cc Standard and the older engines pay different amounts. The road tax page works them out.
Car insurance for one driver
The Suzuki Swift price page prices these details:
- Car: Swift 1.2, registered 3 years ago, private use, comprehensive cover
- Driver: aged 40, married, office job, driving 10 to 19 years
- Record: 50% no-claim discount (NCD), no claims
- Repairs: authorised workshop, no add-ons
15 insurers price the Swift online, and only one on our panel does not. The lowest premium is S$569.36. The insurer whose lowest plan is dearest asks at least S$1,222.20. That is S$652.84 more, or 115% on top. All prices include 9% GST.
For a small car, that is a large spread. The same cover can cost more than twice as much from one insurer as from another.
Excess
The excess is the part of each claim you pay before the insurer pays. On this page S$600 is the most common figure. The range runs from S$0 to S$3,000. Plans at S$500, S$750, S$800 and S$2,500 fall in between. Read each premium alongside its excess.
How the price changes
The price page shows the lowest price when a single detail changes and everything else stays:
- No NCD (0%): S$928.64, S$359.28 more
- 20% NCD: S$928.64, S$359.28 more
- Driver aged 27, 3 years' driving, 30% NCD: S$928.64, S$359.28 more
- Driver aged 65, 20 or more years' driving: S$569.36, the same
- New car, registered this year: S$586.41, S$17.05 more
- Car 8 years old: S$545.00, S$24.36 less
NCD carries the most weight. Losing it adds 63% to the lowest price. A 20% NCD and a younger driver both end up at the same higher figure.
An older driver with 20 or more years' driving pays the same as the example. The age of the car makes only a small difference. These are lowest prices only. Other plans may move by more or less.
Against similar cars
The price page sets the Swift beside six cars with engines of a similar size, for the same driver and car age:
- Mercedes-Benz GLB: S$787.96
- Honda Jazz / Fit: S$622.34
- Toyota C-HR: S$552.91
- Mercedes-Benz A-Class: S$787.96
- Mercedes-Benz GLA: S$787.96
- Nissan Qashqai: S$590.12
Their average lowest price is S$688.21. The Swift costs 17% less than that. Only the Toyota C-HR is cheaper to insure among the six.
Other Suzuki models are on the Suzuki car insurance page.
Costs that depend on you
These vary from owner to owner, so no single figure fits.
- Parking: HDB or condo season parking, plus parking at work, malls and on the street.
- Petrol: depends on how far you drive and the pump price. The current versions are mild hybrids, which pair an electric motor with the petrol engine.
- ERP: depends on your routes and the times you drive.
- Servicing and repairs: follow the maker's schedule. Tyres, brakes and a battery come due over the years. Ask what the warranty covers.
- Depreciation: depends on what you pay and what the car fetches when you sell it.
